His weapon of choice is his Infrared Raygun. He sometimes pilots the MRP4 armor of Land Commander 5, which increases his strength, allows him to fly and has advanced underwater capabilities. He can also use the suit to combine into Land Commander 5.

Reception

Animated series

Ambulance Robo in Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos episode 7, "Sophia, Warrior Woman of the Leo Clan"

Ambulance Robo first appeared in Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos episode 7, "Sophia, Warrior Woman of the Leo Clan". He appeared taking away the injured in a Leo Clan village after a Gandora attack.[2]

Ambulance Robo appeared in episode 20, "The Man From Gandora". He took the injured Devilrock Clay to a hospital.[3]

Ambulance Robo appeared among the injured who helped defend the city from a Gandora attack in Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos episode 24, "Gather All Machine Robo".[4]

Ambulance Robo appeared in episode 25, "Scramble! Land Commander 5". He joined the Land Commander 5 team under the command of Bike Robo at Yamilan City. Like his team-mates he was initially arrogant and dismissive of Rom Stol and his friends, believing that nothing could stand up to Land Commander 5 in combat.[5]

The Land Commander 5 team appeared in episode 26, "Crossrock's Great Promise" where they aided Vikung-Fu in battle against Devil Satan 6.[6]

The Land Commander 5 team in Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos episode 27, "The Magic Mountain Knight Maskrock"

The Land Commander 5 team appeared in episode 27, "The Magic Mountain Knight Maskrock". In the episode the team was part of a Yamilan City volunteer group lead by Rom Stol that went to retrieve the Metal Laster cure for Gandora rust poison gas which has effected Reina and some school children.[7]

In episode 29, "Escape From the Underground - Pro Truck Racer Appears!", Ambulance Robo, Buggy Robo, Mixer Robo, Offroad Robo and Porsche Robo appeared defending the city during a Gandora attack.

The Land Commander 5 team appeared in episode 30 "Spew Fire, Big Blaze Cannon" where they volunteered to be part of a rescue group looking for Rod Drill, Pro Truck Racer, Reina Stol and Tough Trailer, but Rom preferred to let Blackbird Robo discover her location first.[8]

In episode 37, "Critical Moment - Land Commander 5", five Machine Robo were selected to be the new team piloting Land Commander 5. The new team was comprised of Ambulance Robo, Fire Robo, Missile Tank Robo, Porsche Robo and Shuttle Robo. Ambulance Robo was given the MRP4 suit. After repulsing a Gandora attack on the Battle Base the Land Commander 5 team battled the possessed Rockgilan.[9]

Note: Although called Blackbird in the series, some English subtitles of the series call him Black Knight. Blackbird Robo's voice actor Hideyuki Umezu also provided the voice of Joshua Joyce in the Japanese dub of Transformers: Age of Extinction.
