Neither the Guardians nor the Renegades know what Odd Ball is going to do next! This Renegade monster looks as strange as he acts. He's a strong fighter who always has a trick up his sleeve. Like his name, he's strange and always unpredictable.
Although Odd Ball and his companion Wendy's exclusives did not appear in the Challenge of the GoBots animated series, they did appear together in a 1985 commercial for Wendy's restaurant.
Odd Ball was featured in the 2016 Ask Vector Prime story Echoes and Fragments, set during the events of The Transformers: The Movie. The manipulations of the evil Gong and Sideways resulted in various GoBots, Rock Lords and Starriors swapping places with characters during the events of that film. Odd Ball was one of the monster GoBots on the planet Antares III, taking the place of the Quintessons and Sharkticons of Quintessa in the story. Swimming in an ammonia sea, he discovered the recently crashed Hot Rod, but the Autobot proved to be too tough of prey for the small GoBot.
Odd Ball was mentioned in the Fun Publications 2015 Ask Vector Prime Facebook series when it was hosted by Cy-Kill. It is revealed Odd Ball was a member the Instigation Mini-Con Team from the Aurex universal cluster (Unicron Trilogy) recruited by Cy-Kill as part of his Renegade army in Axiom Nexus.
Cy-Kill thinks Odd Ball is unpredictable and would like to partner him with a slow and dependable Renegade like Block Head.
When the TransTech authorities attempted to arrest Cy-Kill he called his new Renegade troops into action. Cy-Kill ordered Gong transport the Renegades away.
In the Transformers: Renegade Rhetoric episode 58 story "Opportunity Knocks Part 2" Cy-Kill chronicled his return to "Level 1", his home universal stream, just as the Guardians were staging an attack on Rogue Star. Cy-Kill and his Renegade recruits from Axiom Nexus joined Fitor, Spoons and Stretch in repelling an attack by Courageous, Leader-1, the Guardian Command Centers and the new Guardian Academy graduates Beamer, Guide Star and Sky Fly. During the battle Monsterous was able to best Courageous and tore though the Command Centers, but a ploy from Leader-1 tricked Cy-Kill into unleashing a massive blast which struck Monsterous, shattering the combiner into his components.
Odd Ball appeared in the 1986 Golden Press story Ambush in Space. In the story the Guardians decided to take a vacation on one of the resort planets. They took the Command Center and their first stop was a refueling planet, but after taking off their engines conked out thanks to micro dust in the fuel placed by Cy-Kill. The Command Center was drawn to the planet Fintergand by an electromagnet operated by Cy-Kill. Once forced to land Pow Wow attacked Scooter, but his attack was deflected by a boulder thrown by Sky Fly. Cop-Tur attacked Leader-1 with rust rockets, but he tricked the rockets into following him to Cy-Kill. Cy-Kill got hit by the rockets and rusted in place. Pow Wow attempted to ram Beamer, but Beamer flew out of the way at the last moment, causing Pow Wow to hit Odd Ball instead. Breez attempted to hide from the Guardians in a crater, but Guide Star and Sky Fly shot "obmug" into the crater. The Guardian GoBots sand their victory song.
Wendy's Kids Meal
Breez and Oddball were among Cy-Kill's troops in the 1985 story "Moonstrike", a comic strip published on a Wendy's Kids Meal box. In the story the Guardians and Renegades battle on Earth's moon. Cy-Kill threatens to shoot Leader-1 with a magnetizing ray gun. Guide Star spots a falling meteor and deflects to hit Cy-Kill. Their leader damaged, the Renegades retreat to Thruster.
