Machine Robo

Devilrock is an evil Rock Person who works for the Gyandlar. He often operates with fellow evil Rock People Doublerock and Geigerrock. His weapon of choice is his Club Deal which can fire his Beta Beam, but he sometimes carries a shoulder mounted missile launcher. He can turn into a large space rock and if shattered he can reform. He can emit corrosive gas from his shoulders. He can fly, teleport and pass though solid soil rock with ease. He stands 6 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 1.05 tons. He occasionally pilots a Rock Commander craft. It is possible there is more than one Devilrock.

Reception

Animated series

Devilrock Clay first appeared in episode #20, "The Man From Gyandlar". He and his partner Geigerrock Gevlar were sent by Gadess to destroy the Rock People ruins near Korora so they could uncover an energy source. The local Rock People fought back by attacking them with bombs. The bombs forced him to seek shelter in a cave where he was attacked by giant robot eating plants. He was discovered by Leina Stol, who was also trapped in the cave. Clay cut off his own leg to help her escape using it's jet booster, and they she returned the favor by getting her brother and friends to rescue him. After being repaired by Ambulance Robo, Clay escaped before the local Rock People revealed that he was with the Gyandlar.[1]

Devilrock returned to life, now a loyal member of the Gyandlar. Devilrock, Doublerock and Geigerrock appeared in episode #21 of Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos "The Heart of a Protecting Angel" members of the Gyandlar forces that took control of the population of Gurian City. The three were attacked by Rom Stol, but he was quickly overpowered with Lafu's powers. Although Rom and his companions were temporarily subdued by Lafu, once they were freed Rod Drill tackled Doublerock and threw him into his two fellow rock Rock People. Blue Jet slashed the three evil Rock People with his sword. Once they three realized the people of the city were free and fighting back, they retreated.[2] Note: Two Doublerocks and Devilrock are briefly seen from the back supervising the workers in Gurian City. It is possible this was an animation error and one Doublerock was intended to be Geigerrock.

In episode #22, "Rockdon versus Rockgilen" Devilrock, Doublerock and Geigerrock were among the Gyandlar who enslaved a Rock People village.[3]

Devilrock appeared in episode #24, "Gather All Machine Robo". Devilrock, Doublerock and Geigerrock followed Kendo Robo into the desert in his quest to recover ammunition for his city.[4]

In episode #27, "Mask Rock, Knight of the Magical Mountain" Devilrock, Doublerock and Geigerrock spied on the team lead by Rom Stol on their way back to Yamalin City.

Doublerock, Doublerock and Geigerrock appeared in episode #30 "Spew Fire, Big Blaze Cannon". Doublerock's attempt to capture Leina Stol and use his Freeze Beam on her resulted in him being shot by Pro Truck Racer.[5]

In episode #31, "The Curse of the Demon Sword Medusa", Battle Robo and Skyline Robo retreated into the desert after being caught in a Gyandlar trap. The pair were ambushed by Devil Rock and Doublerock, but were saved by Tough Trailer.

Devilrock, Doublerock Devil Satan 6 attack in Machine Robo: Revenge of Cronos episode #34, "Vikung-Fu Disappears In Space"

Devilrock and Doublerock appeared in episode #34, "Vikung-Fu Disappears In Space" as part of the Gyandlar attack force.

In episode #35, "The Secret of the Jewel People", Devilrock and Doublerock pursued Magnarock until Rom and Pro Truck Racer intervened.

Note: In some English subtitles of the series Clay is called Guri.
