With a career spanning over two decades, Georgis has made significant contributions to the Bangladeshi audiovisual industry, earning him widespread recognition and acclaim. In 2017, he received this accolade for his remarkable work on "Sesh Adda," directed by Amitabh Reza Chowdhury. The following year, he was once again recognized as the Best Editor [9][10][11]for his exceptional editing on "Hotel Albatross," directed by Nuhash Humayun. These awards are a testament to his dedication and proficiency in the craft of editing. Early Life and Education

Bashar Georgis, an accomplished filmmaker of Bangladeshi origin, was born on December 28th, 1978, into an ordinary middle-class family in Mirpur, Dhaka, Bangladesh. His educational journey began at Dhaka's renowned SOS Hermann Gmeiner College, where he completed his secondary and higher secondary education.

From a young age, Georgis developed a profound passion for the world of Film and Television, which led him to pursue formal education in this field. He successfully graduated, equipping himself with a solid foundation in the art of filmmaking. Recognizing the importance of continuous learning and growth, he further expanded his skills and expertise by completing a diploma in digital filmmaking from the prestigious Bridge Academy in the United Kingdom.

These educational experiences played a vital role in shaping Georgis' artistic vision and technical proficiency, setting him on a path toward a successful career in the film industry.

Career or Filmography:

Georgis began his journey in the Bangladeshi audiovisual industry as an Assistant Editor, working closely with renowned film editor Iqbal Kabir Joel. His talent and dedication soon led him to explore freelance editing opportunities, where he collaborated with director Amitabh Reza Chowdhury.


From 2007 to the end of 2009, Georgis worked extensively with Amitabh Reza, making significant contributions to a diverse portfolio that included over 100 Television advertisement, two reality television show, and several Television films. Notable among his editing and color grading projects are "Is Equal Two," "Mayesha," "Ichhe Holo," "Maya Ar Mrritur Golpo," and "Sesh Adda." Through these collaborations, Georgis honed his craft, leaving a lasting impact on the industry and establishing himself as a skilled editor with a keen eye for color grading.


From January 2010 to February 2013, Bashar Georgis served as a program editor and colorist for the BBC World Service Trust (BBCWST). During this period, he made remarkable contributions to groundbreaking projects. Notably, he played a pivotal role in the creation of Bangladesh's first-ever supernatural detective drama series, "Bishaash," as part of the prestigious "BBC Janala Project." "Bishaash" achieved remarkable success, being the first drama in Bangladesh shot between two countries, Bangladesh and the UK. It was also the first drama to be rebroadcast on Zee Cafe in the UK and aired on Cambodian national TV with dubbing. Additionally, Georgis provided valuable editing and coloring services for the English learning game show titled "BBC Janala Mojay Mojay Shekha." He also made significant contributions to the widely acclaimed political debate show, "BBC Bangladesh Songlap (BBC Dialogue)," which gained immense popularity among viewers.

In 2016, Georgis founded his own production company, "Inovasi Films," where he currently works as a writer, director, and editor. In 2018, he wrote and directed a 40-episode daily soap titled "Gramer Nam Shimulpur" for Directorate General of Family Planning (DGFP), which became Bangladesh's first health-related daily soap.


Bashar Georgis has directed six short films funded by the Embassy of the United States, Dhaka which have been nominated and screened at various international film festivals, including the Pune International Film Festival, Goa Short Film Festival, and the International Film Festival of South Asia, Toronto (IFFSA). He has also produced and directed various public awareness pieces for international organizations such as Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, British Council Bangladesh, USAID, UNICEF Bangladesh, Care International, Plan Bangladesh, UNODC, and Practical Action.


In 2023, Georgis achieved another milestone with the release of the Chorki original series "Overtrump," a dark comedy starring Chanchal Chowdhury. Written and directed by Bashar Georgis and produced by Redoan Rony, the series is considered Bangladesh's first of its kind.


While his current pursuits primarily revolve around directing and writing, Georgis remains deeply passionate about post-production. Presently, he serves as the editor for all the songs of Coke Studio Bangla, the most popular YouTube-based music channel in Bangladesh. [18]
