Mastermind Creations

Cyclops is based on Shockwave from the Transformers: Hearts of Steel comic series.

Cyclops was mentioned in the biography of Knight Morpher Annhilator.

Other third party Shockwave homages include the TFClub Phantom of Screamer Set and Mech Ideas Longblast

Development

Cyclops was first teased in January 2011.[1]

An April Fools image of a Cyclops toy was released by Mastermind Creations in 2011. This picture depicted Cyclops as a remold of Mastermind Creations Commander.[2]

The prototype for Cyclops was displayed at TF Metro-Con 2011. At the time they said it was set for release in January 2012.[3]

Cyclops was previewed at the Third Party Panel at TFcon 2011, where they said he would be out by Christmas 2011.[4]

Cyclops was released in July 2012.

Cyclops appeared in promotional photos for Air Screech.

Mastermind Creations comics

In a one-page Mastermind Creations comic story it is revealed that the small companion robot created the larger Cyclops. They plan to join a gladiator named Tyrantronus.

Cyclops appeared in the Mastermind Creations comic story "Cyclops' Plan". In the story Screecher, Stormer and Warper attack the White House in the year 1869, intent enslaving humans to serve the Eliminators. Cyclops contacts Screecher and orders him to wait, as humans have not advanced enough to be any use to the Eliminators. Screecher disobeys, so Cyclops sends Annihilator and an army of Screecher clones called the Crow Batallion. Although Screecher and his companions defeat the Crow Batallion, they are defeated by Annihilator. Screecher yields and follows orders from Cyclops to use organic robots to create terror and war on Earth, thus advancing human technology in mere decades to levels that would have taken centuries.[5]
