Al Mohammed v. Bush (Civil Action No. 05-CV-247) is a writ of habeas corpus filed on behalf of Guantanamo captive Mahmood Salim Al Mohammed.

Following the deaths in custody of three captives on June 10, 2006 camp authorities seized many Guantanamo captives' papers, including their copies of their habeas documents. Because the captive's copies of their habeas documents were considered privileged communications camp authorities had to defend the document seizure in court.

The Military Commissions Act of 2006 mandated that Guantanamo captives were no longer entitled to access the US civil justice system, so all outstanding habeas corpus petitions were closed. However, on June 12, 2008, in Boumediene v. Bush, that Combatant Status Review Tribunals were inadequate, and the outstanding habeas petitions were put back in motion.

On July 18, 2008 Samuel C. Kauffman renewed his habeas petition. His habeas petition was filed on February 2, 2005. On March 13, 2005 the petition was stayed following the passage of the Detainee Treatment Act. His petition stated that his safety would be at risk if he were returned to Syria.
