Seetu Kohli is an architect known for creating interior designs and representing global luxury brands of furniture in India and Qatar.[1]

Kohli's most significant achievement has been to officially and successfully bring and establish the high end furniture brands in India under her flagship company Seetu Kohli Home. The brands represented by her company are Ralph Lauren Home, Bentley Home, Trussardi Casa, Roberto Cavalli Home, Gianfranco Ferre, ETRO Home Interiors and many more. She also represents Fendi Casa and Armani Casa in India.[2]

Seetu Kohli Home, operates an interior and furniture showroom in Delhi and has an office in Qatar. She is often credited with single-handedly establishing the market for luxury furniture in India. Besides that she has executed many residential, office and hospitality projects including the Westin hotel and resorts in Haryana.[3]

Early life and education

Kohli was born in an illustrious business and political family in Jammu to Sneh Gupta and Kusum Mahajan. She grew up in a joint family and her father’s elder brother Janak Raj Gupta was a prominent Member of Parliament from Jammu. She did her schooling in Presentation Convent in Jammu and twelfth from MHAC school in Jammu. She did her architecture from Sushant School of Art and Architecture in Gurgaon.

Career

After graduating from school, Kohli started her company with her husband but soon after branched out on her own.[4]She has designed and executed many homes across the globe and has executed work in hotels, offices, malls including Westin gurgaon, Westin resorts Haryana, Leela Kempinski Gurgaon, Hilton double tree, Gurgaon.[5]

Kohli has worked with various builders including DLF, Vatika, Ambience, Eemar, Brahma corp, Unity group, JMD, Krish, Paras buildtech, 3C’s, Bestech and others. She has designed and built sample apartments, common areas in apartment complexes and supplied doors and kitchens to these projects.[6] Her projects include the home of late Arun Jaitley’s, Falguni & Shane’s showroom and Manish Malhotra’s showroom in Delhi.

Kohli's company website also has blog by her on her experiences with Arun Jaitley during his last days when she was setting up his Kailash colony house for him and his family. She worked on Mr.Ajay Piramal’s house in Mumbai on the Worli sea face and played a key role in setting up the house with furniture from various parts of world.[7]

International projects

Kohli is known for her international projects including homes for prestigious clients in Los Angeles, London and Qatar. She has designed and furnished an Armani Casa townhouse for the prestigious Mshreib complex in Qatar and is working on many palaces in Qatar. Kohli has also supplied furniture to the private Yatchs and the most expensive homes across the world including houses in UAE, Tanzania, Canada, London and Los Angeles.[8]

Company furniture projects

Besides representing Imported furniture, her company also designs and manufactures high end furniture in India. This furniture along with other furnishings and accessories has also been exported to high end residential projects in Qatar and London.[9]

She was a partner in Gauri Khan Designs and was instrumental in launching the Gauri Khan Designs showroom in Mumbai. She has supplied furniture to many Bollywood homes including Shahrukh Khan’s Mannat, Salman Khan’s Home at Galaxy apartments, Ranbir Kapoor, Karan Johar and Kangana Ranaut.[9]

Made in India brands

Kohli launched a home line with designer Manish Malhotra. She launched a made in India brand for furniture and accessories called Mallika’s Edit and coined the slogan local to global to promote Indian crafts to the world. She has pioneered in taking the luxury furniture brands on an e-commerce platform, a first if its kind in the luxury furniture industry.[9]

Recognition

Kohli is a co-chair for the core committee for luxury and lifestyle by CII in India. She has been featured twice on the cover page of Living magazine in India. She was on the jury of Luxury Lifestyle Awards held in Singapore.

Kohli was announced as one of the 3 formidable women displaying at the AD show in Mumbai in 2018 by Vogue magazine in India.[10] She has been invited as a panellist on various panel discussions held by CII, Acetech and others. She is often invited as a key note on various platforms including Credai for their annual conference.

Kohli has been interviewed on Bloomberg TV, News 18 and others.[11] She has been featured in various magazines and is widely recognised for her work and her journey as a global women entrepreneur.
