Richard Earl Shaw, as known as Richard E Shaw is an African-American novelist, educator, inventor, thought- leader, humanitarian, life coach, motivational speaker, educational and business consultant. He is an acclaimed author famously known as Rich E Shaw for many noted publications to his credit. He is also the founder of RESCORP Properties, LLC., and has registered 12 patents. He rose to prominence as an inventor for developing the credit and debit receiving dispensing device.[1]


Early life and education

Shaw is a native of Monroe, Louisiana, but was raised on the southside of Chicago, Illinois, with his single mother, Ella Mae Shaw and siblings until the age of 9, prior to returning to Monroe to reside with his grandparents, business owner Leon Shaw and Mary E. Shaw, a cafeteria supervisor at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, formerly known as Northeast Louisiana University (NLU). He grew up watching leadership and entrepreneurship. After graduation from Carroll High School, Shaw was influenced by his football coach and longtime mentor, the late giant, Julian Gray, a local educational giant in Monroe, Louisiana coupled with his maternal uncle Richard Lee Shaw, encouraged him to pursue higher education endeavors. During his formative years, he played football throughout elementary (pee wee), junior high, high school and college years which provided him with discipline and direction. Playing football under Julian Gray, laid the foundation for life.

Though he had high hopes of attending the historical Bishop College in Dallas, Texas to seek a double major in Business Administration and Religion and Philosophy, the college ultimately closed due to financial challenges around his junior year. However, while attending college, Shaw was mentored by the late Dr. Billy Earl Dade, a prominent Dallas educator who served as a surrogate father and was a very influential figure in his ingenuous years. Dr. Dade encouraged him to further his education before his passing. Dr. Dade was instrumental in assisting Shaw obtain a full scholarship. Shaw went on to further his studies with Dallas College El Centro Campus, formerly known as El Centro College, graduating with an Associate of Science in Liberal Arts and Sciences. He later acquired a diploma in mechanical engineering from Louisiana State University and also received a Bachelor of Science in secondary education in English and history from Paul Quinn College. Shaw completed his Master’s in Educational Administration at Prairie View A&M University.[2][3]


Career

Afterwards, Shaw taught both advanced and academic English courses on a high school level where students performed at a high passing rate in tested areas. Students outperformed others in the area of writing where students received honors recognition. Next, he was promoted as an assistant principal and associate principal in Dallas, while serving as a summer school principal six consecutive years. Shaw conducted instructional and classroom management workshops where he trained new and veteran teachers both district and statewide on various topics. Later, he moved onto Academic Coordinator at the collegiate level at Paul Quinn College from 2005 to 2007. In 2008, he started his tenure as the Principal of Clay Academy, serving till 2009.[4][5] Shaw later founded Rich Publishing House, an independent publishing company dedicated to helping aspiring authors and novelists share their novels with the literary world.[5][6] He also went on to be the founder and CEO of RESCORP Properties, LLC.[5]

Work

Shaw developed and manufactured the credit and debit receiving dispensing device equipped with vending machines. This development allowed customers to use debit and credit cards to purchase different items, such as cigarettes, alcohol, lottery tickets, and other accessories.

Richard E Shaw has patented 12 of his inventions. He has also served as the commissioner for the Planning and Zoning Commission in Duncanville, Texas.[2][6]

Shaw provides leadership coaching to professionals, executives, and clients to help them become better professionals and adopt a proper work-life balance.[7]
