Munzer Ahmed Chowdhury (Bengali: মুনজের আহমদ চৌধুরী; born 20 July, 1986 in Moulvibazar). He comes from a political and well-known family of Borlheka. Khan Bahadur Abdur Roshid Chowdhury is Munzer's great-grandfather. Former state minister and parliament member Advocate Ebadur Rahman Chowdhury is his family member.

Munzer Ahmed Chowdhury is the originator & publisher of The Dazzling Dawn, which is the first and only Bangladeshi-owned English news daily published from UK and Europe. [1]

Munzer is a Bangladeshi journalist, writer, and philanthropist. [2] He is currently working as London Correspondent of Bangla Tribune, the popular newsportal in Bangladesh. Currently, he is working as a Senior Vice President of UK- Bangla Press Club. In United Kingdom and Bangladesh Munzer is well known for his non-partisan and ethical journalism in his age. [3]

Early life

Munzer Ahmed Chowdhury was born in Moulvibazar, Bangladesh, his mother is Rohima Begum Chowdhury, and his father Late Advocate Jamil Uddin Chowdhury. He studied BSc Hons in Humanities and Social Science at Buckinghamshire New University. He married Nahida Munzer Taani. His only son Johir Jamil Chowdhury.

Career

In Bangaladesh: He came in journalism in his very young age. In 2003 he started reporting in weekly Rajkhantha. He was Deputy Editor on Weekly Manu Barta, one of the oldest newspaper of South Sylhet. In 2007, he directly elected as a director of Moulvibazar Public Library by highest vote. He was the youngest candidate on the election. From 2007 to 2011 he worked as a Staff Reporter (Sylhet division) at the largest circulated national daily newspaper Amader Shomoy. He has earned numerous Award for some of his great work throughout his career.

In Abroad: From 2011 he is working as a journalist in London. He has worked successfully after being elected in UK Bangla Pressclub as general secretary twice by members. For the 3rd time, he voluntarily resigned to give way to new leaders.[4] He established an organization called Campaign for Media Freedom in 2018 with journalists stationed in the country and abroad to establish free media. [5] He is currently working to open a fully free school for basic training for young Journalist in Moulvibazar, where the senior journalists of the country will take classes about Journalism. [6]

Social Works

During the past 15 years in Moulvibazar and Baralekha during various natural and social calamities including floods and fires, he has been by the side of people silently with his personal initiative. Specifically during COVID-19 situation he stayed in Bangladesh in Moulvibazar for 6 months. When it was in lockdown he tried to help people in each days. He regularly visited the relatives of the deceased journalists of the district and always extended his hand of help to them in their distress. When the whole world is at a standstill due to the Corona epidemic, he has delivered relief items to people's homes. He also secretly provides financial support to many middle-class professional journalists. Munzer Ahmed always wishes the journalists of his area a bright future. So, he gave opportunity many people to work in the country's best newspapers. [7]
