Laurie Schloff

Rose Laurie Schloff (born November 17) is an American author and a global speech and communication coach.[1] She is an expert in the field of corporate and leadership communication[2] with over 30 years of experience working with leaders in life sciences, technology, and finance to improve their presentation, speaking, persuasion, and executive presence skills.[3] Schloff is the President of Partners in Communication, Inc.[4] and Director of Executive Training with The Speech Improvement Company, Inc.[5]

Early life and education

Schloff was born in Newark, N.J., and graduated from Cranford High School in Cranford N.J.

She earned her undergraduate degree in Speech Pathology from Douglas College, Rutgers University, and her graduate degree from Columbia University in the same field.[6] After completing her master’s, she worked as a clinical instructor at Northeastern University, training graduate students in speech and language pathology. She completed advanced doctoral work in leadership and organizational psychology at Northeastern University and USC. Schloff held a Certificate of Clinical Competence from The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is a member of the Speech Communication Association, and the Boston Facilitators Roundtable.

Career

Schloff has three decades of experience as a trainer and coach in the areas of presentation, one-on-one executive coaching, leadership training, conference coaching, and facilitation. She is a founding member of the IPO coaching team and heads the corporate workshop, The Leadership Communication Certificate Program.[7]

In 2008, Schloff co-founded electionspeakers.com. She trains future presentation coaches in her Presentation Coaching Certificate Program.

Schloff’s clients include Bain Capital, Fidelity Investments, Babson Capital, GE Aircraft Engines, Bank of America, MassMutual, Allstate, State Street, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, TJX, Pegasystems, The Society of Actuaries, The TJX Companies, and Johns Hopkins.[8] Her biotechnology and healthcare clients include Biogen, Johnson & Johnson Novartis, Pfizer, Alnylam, Agios, Ariad, and Boston Scientific Corporation.

Schloff developed the online microlearning program, Conquer Your Fear of Speaking for the Myquest.co platform.[9]

Author

Schloff is the co-author of He & She Talk: How to Communicate with the Opposite Sex,[10] Smart Speaking: Sixty Second Strategies,[11] and the slide book Speech Gems.[12] Her books have been internationally translated and offer practical solutions to communication problems faced by most organizations and individuals.[13] Her first children’s book, Twenty Twinkling Stars,[14] was a fundraiser and learning tool for National Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE). Schloff was appointed to SAVE’s national board in 2015.[15] The book is currently being used as an educational tool by the nation’s largest anti-violence organization, Sandy Hook Promise.

Speaker

Schloff is a frequent guest speaker on radio and television. She has been featured in several podcasts, shows, and publications, including Life Science Success Podcast,[16] Cosmopolitan, The Wall Street Journal, Oprah, and The Today Show.[17] She is one of the speaking and communication experts at The Speech Queens Podcast with Tori Hollingworth and Dinneen Grably.[18]

Recognition

Schloff is a winner of the Partners Connected Health Competition and was awarded the American Resident Project Prize for her innovative work in the field of communication and technology. She was recognized as one of the Top 15 Coaches of 2022 in Boston by influencedigest.com. Schloff was selected as a Women in Leadership Advisory Member for University of Vermont in 2023. She is the communication coach for the ADL Florida region, and an advisor and master class leader for the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA).
