According to United States' military spokesmen Haji Yacoub was described as an "Al Qaeda facilitator".[1] He was reported to have been injured by a missile fired from a Predator UAV, on August 20, 2008, that killed several other individuals.[2]

News Track India reported in 2009 that while other Arabs died in the missile strike, Haji Yacoub was merely injured. http://www.newstrackindia.com/newsdetails/66583

In 2010 further details of the attack were published in diplomatic cable released by the whistleblower organization WikiLeaks http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/afghanistan/warlogs/78523FD0-2219-0B3F-9FF02E00B6A2578A http://wikileaks.org/gifiles/docs/402168_re-ct-fw-guidance-on-the-leaks-.html
