Guy Stuart Barker II is an American businessman, and member of the Republican Party. [1] Barker currently serves as the Secretary-Treasurer of the Quapaw Nation, located in Ottawa County, Oklahoma.[2] Barker is a member of the Osage Nation and Quapaw Nation.[3]

Education

Barker holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Biosystems-Biomechanical Engineering and Petroleum Engineering from Oklahoma State University. Later he earned his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Oklahoma City University School of Law while interning as a clerk for Chief Justice Noma Gurich of the Oklahoma Supreme Court.

Career

In 2020, Barker became the head financial officer of the Quapaw Nation.[4][5] In October of 2020, Barker opened the Saracen Casino Resort in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.[6][7] In December of 2021, working with Bank of Oklahoma and Wells Fargo, Barker refinanced the enterprise's debt and recapitalized. [8][9]

Civic Involvement

In July 2020, Barker, along with his running mate, Chairman Joseph Byrd, defeated his predecessor, a 22-year incumbent, in the Quapaw Nation general election. Barker has since been tasked with treasury management and operations of the Nation’s enterprises.[10]

On April 5, 2022 Barker announced his candidacy as a republican for Oklahoma's 2nd congressional district.[11]
