From October 2018 to June 2021, Jones served as the Director of Strategic Projects at Cranfield University in Bedfordshire. During his tenure, he oversaw key strategic projects, including the development of MK:U, a groundbreaking New Model University for Milton Keynes, with an estimated budget of approximately £450 million. Additionally, he played a crucial role in the Cranfield Defense & Security (CDS) Transformation Programme, aimed at enhancing defense and security capabilities. Jones also led the relocation of forensic science capabilities and taught programs from Oxfordshire to Bedfordshire, establishing a world-class national center for forensic science. This relocation project involved a capital expenditure of £7.3 million, facilitated the creation of 22 direct jobs, assisted 170 additional learners in finding employment, introduced 27 new short courses, and provided over 500 square meters of new learning space. Furthermore, he achieved a 15% reduction in operational costs for the center.


Prior to his role at Cranfield University, Jones held the position of Associate Director, Programme Leadership at AECOM in London. During this time, he was responsible for managing and delivering various high-profile projects, including the Palace of Westminster, UK Parliament's multi-million-pound security program, and the Mayors Office for Policing & Crime (MOPAC) & Metropolitan Police Estates Capital Renewal Programme. His expertise also contributed to the successful delivery of the Stag Brewery Residential Development, the London Clinic Rebuild Programme, the commercial office build at 20 Farringdon Street, and the Palace of Westminster Phase 1 & 2 Security Programme.
