Richard Earl Shaw, also known as Richard E Shaw, Rich E Shaw, and Rich Shaw, is an African-American inventor, educator, entrepreneur, business consultant, life-coach, and novelist. He has 12 patents under his belt and has also invented the credit and debit receiving dispensing device, a vending machine system that allows users to pay with credit or debit card.[1]


Early life and education

Shaw was born in Monroe, Louisiana, to Ella Mae Shaw and Wilbert Walker. He was brought to Chicago, Illinois, by his single mother, where he lived until he was 9. He then moved back to Monroe with his grandparents, Mary, a supervisor at University of Louisiana at Monroe formerly known as Northeast Louisiana University, and Leon Shaw, a business owner. Richard graduated from Carroll High School. He played football throughout his middle, high school and collegiate life.

He wanted to attend Bishop College, Dallas, Texas with hopes of enhancing his preaching abilities, but the college had to closed down due to financial restraints. Shaw didn’t stop there, under the mentorship of Dr. Billy Earl Dade, a prominent educator and father figure in Dallas, encouraged him to pursue educational goals. Before passing away, Dr. Dade was a very important figure in Shaw’s life. So, he enrolled in Dallas College El Centro Campus, formerly El Centro College, graduating with an Associate of Science in Liberal Arts and Sciences. He then studied and acquired a diploma in mechanical engineering from Louisiana State University and received a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education in English and history from Paul Quinn College. Shaw did his Master's in Education Administration with focused on leadership and supervision from Prairie View A&M University.[2][3]


Career

With years of experience to his credit, a well-respected educator. Shortly after graduating, Shaw started teaching English in different high schools. In 2005, he became an Assistant Principal in Dallas for several years and Academic Coordinator at Paul Quinn College. In 2008, he started his tenure as the Principal of Clay Academy, serving till 2009.[3][4] Shaw founded Rich Publishing House, an independent publishing company to help aspiring authors/novelists share their novels with the literary world.[4][5] Mr. Shaw has distinguished himself as the founder and CEO of RESCORP Properties, LLC.[5]

Professional Accolades

Shaw invented credit and debit receiving dispensing devices equipped with vending machines. It allowed customers to use debit and credit cards to purchase different items like cigarettes, alcohol, lottery tickets, and other small-sized accessories. He has also served as the commissioner for the Planning Development and Zoning Commission of Duncanville, Texas.[2][6] Shaw also has 12 patents to his name. Shaw has 12 patents for his inventions. He has also Shaw provided leadership coaching to professionals, executives, and clients to help them become better professionals and adopt a proper work-life balance.[7] He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated and a member of Phi Delta Kappa collegiate fraternity and professional organization for educators.
