Reception
Reviews for Apollyon were mixed. Many praised the figure's appearance highly but criticised the spotty quality control. A common complaint was loose ball joints and sloppy paint application. Replacement shoulder sockets were included in the packaging but for some, even these were too loose.
A second run of Apollyon improved upon his quality control further. A protective plastic film was applied over Apollyon's chest, to prevent scratches during transportation.

Fictional biography
Out of the bottomless pit and from before the dawn of man he comes, bringing deadly peace to Earth. But his thirst for revenge knows no limit, and he won't stop until he's taken his home-world back. He'll unleash his thundering fusion power over the mighty steel warriors, freedom will be extinguished and he'll be king above them all. Behold, Andras the tracker, leader of the swarm; and Eligos, the warmonger, for they are his heralds! They proclaim the all-powerful angel of destruction, tremble when you hear his name...for the reign of Apollyon is near!
The biography for Andras mentions that Andras serves Apollyon's high command.

Apollyon appears in the Keith's Fantasy Club story They Pull Me Back In where he receives the call for help transmitted by Doubledeck.
