Hegemon is a fictional character and third-party Transformer homage to Generation 1 Megatron made by Toyworld in 2012 as a third-party Transformer. In 2012 Reprolabels released a set of labels for Hegemon that make it look more like Generation 1 Megatron.

Toyworld

Hegemon is a Transformer who turns into a handgun. He is an homage to the 1984 Transformers character Megatron.

According to the tech specs on the collector card for Hegemon he is incredibly strong, intelligent and carries massive firepower. His only failing is his slightly lower than average speed.

Other third-party Transformers inspired by Megatron include Destruction Lord, Evil Leader, Faith Leader, Mega-Gun and Megashoton.

Development

Prototype pictures of Hegemon were first posted on the web by Toyworld in December 2011.[1]

Promotional photos of Hegemon compared him with a number of other toys, including Exgraver, Heavy Labor, Structor, Dr. Crank and Stormbomb. Promotional photos for TFC Toys Photron depicted it with Hegemon and Madblender.

Reception

The Radio Free Cybertron podcast for January 25th, 2012 discussed Hegemon as part of their Third Party Roundup.[2]

The Good Evening Charr! podcast for May 5th, 2012 discussed Hegemon as part of the news.[3]
