Shark Attack Squad
The Shark Attack Squad is a third party Transformer team homage to Generation 1 Gnaw and the Sharkticons and created by iGear.
iGear
The Shark Attack Team is an iGear homage to the 1986 Transformers characters Gnaw and the Sharkticons. It was initially advertised as Shark Sentry.
Development
In July 2009 iGear first advertised a half sized Sharkticon toy.[1]
In August 2011 iGear announced a whole new design Sharkticon called IG-TF005.[2]
iGear posted color prototype images of their "Shark Sentry" on their Facebook page in March 2012.[3]
Final product and box images of the Shark Attack Squad were posted on Facebook in December 2013.
Reception
The TFWire podcast for August 30th, 2009 had a segment devoted the Shark Sentry price announcement. Jesse didn't think it was worth $60 and worried Hasbro would "crack down" on them.[4]
The Radio Free Cybertron podcast for March 28th, 2012 discussed Shark Sentry as part of their Third Party Roundup.[5]
The Cybercast podcast for December 21st, 2013 discussed Shark Sentry in the news.[6]
Toys
- iGear IG-TF005 Shark Attack Squad (unreleased)
- A trio of original third party Transformer molds designed by iGear. Each turns from humanoid robot to robotic monster angler fish. Each Shark Sentry has a slightly different humanoid head and comes with a mace weapon.
- This mold was recolored into The Leader of Shark.
