Steven Haase
Steven H. Haase (born February 14, 1956, Pittsburgh, PA) is an insurance broker[1] known for writing the first cyber insurance policy in April 1997.[2] He has more than four decades of experience in risk management and insurance.[3] Haase is the former CEO of INSUREtrust[4] and the current President of STP Insurance Services, LLC.[5] Throughout his forty-year career journey, Haase has brought new insurance products,[6] including Technology E&O, Cyber liability,[7] and Embedded insurance to market, generating hundreds of millions of dollars in premiums and revenue from companies that had never known about or purchased them before.
Education
Haase holds a Master of Science and a BBA in Risk Management and Insurance from Georgia State University.[8]
Career
Haase started his insurance career in 1978 with FM Global. At FM Global, he managed the international HPR insurance programs for several Fortune 1000 companies, including Coca-Cola, Shaw Industries, Ford Motor Co, Chrysler Inc, Owens Corning Fiberglass, Genuine Parts, and Oxford Industries.
Next, he became one of the first insurance professionals to specialize in providing risk management expertise to emerging technology companies in the 1980s.[9] Haase was a partner at Hamilton Dorset Alston and has helped grow the company from 19 to 125 employees and from $2M to $12M in revenue, leading to the sale of the company at a 3X multiple.[10]
On April 15, 1997, Haase launched the first cyber insurance policy and underwriting platform,[11] the Risk and Insurance Management Society's annual[12] called the Internet Security Liability Policy.[13]
Haase was an insurance broker at Hamilton Dorsey Alston Co. and spun this off into Network Risk Management Systems, which eventually became INSUREtrust.com in 2020.[14][15] INSUREtrust is a specialty wholesale broker, managing general agent, and former covernote holder for Lloyd's of London, distributing cyber liability, technology errors and omissions, and miscellaneous professional liability coverages.[16] Haase held full underwriting authority on behalf of the Beazley Lloyds London Syndicates.[17] Haase launched Insuretrust with a $2M angel round and sold it for deep eight figures in December 2020 when it INSUREtrust was acquired by Constellation Affiliated Partners, with Haase joining MIC Global and Christiaan Durdaller taking over as President and CEO of INSUREtrust.[18]
Haase is the President of STP Insurance Services, LLC, which is the U.S. sales subsidiary of MIC Global, which also owns Lloyd's of London Syndicate 5183,[19] and two technology companies. MIC is a full-stack insurance company pursuing embedded insurance via platform companies.
Haase serves on the Board of Trustees of the Educational Foundation for the Department of Risk Management and Insurance at Georgia State University. He is a regular speaker at insurance and risk management industry events[20][21] and a guest lecturer in Georgia State University's Risk Management and Insurance Department as well as the Georgia Institute of Technology's Distance Learning and Professional Education Institute.[22]

Personal life
Haase likes sailing, windsurfing, and playing golf in his spare time.[28] Haase serves on the Board of Governors at the Miami Yacht Club.
