Scott Wood Haverhill was born and raised in Haverhill, where his father was a police officer and an ESP student at Haverhill Public Schools. Scott Wood Haverhill learned the importance of public service and contribution to the community at an early age, and he learned this not only from his parents but also from his grandfather, Merton Howard, who was Sheriff in Haverhill for 37 years.

Scott attended Fox School, Golden Hill School, Whittier Middle School, and Haverhill High School and graduated in 2001. Just two years after graduating from high school, Scott Wood Haverhill was elected to the Haverhill School Board in 2003, becoming the youngest elected person at the school—history of the city. After high school, Scott attended Fisher College and earned a bachelor's degree in administration and a master's degree in justice while serving on the school board.

During his nearly 20 years on the School Board, Scott Wood Haverhill has worked tirelessly for Haverhill Schools and its students, faculty, and staff. He led the fight for small class sizes and modern technology in the classroom, supported powerful projects like high school reform, and completed contracts that balanced the need for competitive compensation with financial constraints to attract and retain quality teachers. Scott was the driving force behind the creation of the Haverhill School Committee subcommittee to ensure Haverhill teachers better reflect the student body.

Scott Wood Haverhill is a Senior Loan Officer working in the financial industry for almost twenty years. He understands the importance of fiscal responsibility and good financial management. Scott has also been at the forefront of the 21st-century challenges facing Haverhill. Promotes new and innovative programs in our schools and communities to address problems such as drug use, violence in schools and communities, and truancy. In addition to his work on the School Board, Scott Wood Haverhill is active in the community and supports important causes and organizations. He has been a member of the Haverhill Boys and Girls Club and the Newburyport ARC of Greater Haverhill, has coached basketball at the local YMCA, and served as the Director of Health Services for the Parkinson's Foundation.
