RoRo Yone
As a child, artist Roro Yone would watch his siblings practice and perfect their craft, and he quickly learned to do the same. His brother and sister would join singing competitions to earn cash so they could have a nice warm meal. He continued practicing singing on his own but heard the Bone Thugs-N-Harmony’s song. The Crossroads blew his mind as a kid. This song had him rapping and singing in a language that he didn’t even understand.
Career
Eventually, at 15 years old, Roro moved to the U.S. from the Philippines. When he heard his sister playing Nelly, Ludacris, Eminem, and DMX – the style of music immediately caught his attention. From then on, he wanted to write and produce his songs.
Roro gets into his creative space whenever he is influenced by specific notes or rhythms throughout his daily life. Something as simple as the sound of clothes in the dryer consistently hitting the same rhythm, creating a set tempo can translate into drum beats in his mind. The sound of the beeping microwave sometimes triggers the song’s tune in his head. It usually starts like this. Then lyrics start pouring in depending on the feel and soul of the music he’s produced.
The daily life inspired his latest release struggles that he feels most artists don’t give enough attention to. Roro Yone describes the track as “[a call] for peace whether it’s a conflict that includes two parties or a conflict in a person’s mind.” His song “Swerve” on his E.P. speaks about distracted drivers and is from the perspective of a driver who had just experienced being cut off and almost getting into an accident. Another song, “Better Days,” talks about settling our differences.
His songs are written with everyday life experiences in mind, making them very relatable. His song, “Make It Bounce,” charted #7 in the DRT Top 150 Global Charts, and he is currently working on releasing so much more. His focus has shifted to multiple songs that talk about love, attractions, and broken relationships and working with producer – Sam Peezy and C.P. Music Group. While Roro Yone has had his fair share of hardship in life, he uses it as motivation to keep his mind strong to never give up on anything he does.
