Dr.Kakumanu Raja Sikhamani is a former Superintendent of Police and retired Principal of Police Training College, Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh. Sikhamani previously served as Sub Inspector (AR) in the year 1981 and reported in PTC, Anantapur for training. During the period 1982 to 1986, won the medals in Andhra Pradesh Police Sports and AP Amateur Athletics & National Athletics. He was the first Indian police officer who reached Mount Everest Base Camp.[1]

During the period 1986 to 1996 worked in the State Intelligence Security Wing and also in the period 1994 to 1999 worked as AP Police Athletic Coach for AP Police Team and trained many athletes to improve their standards.

During the period 1997 to 2002, served duties at DGP Office, Police Central Store. During the period 2003 to 2007 served as Commandant (Home Guards),Visakhapatnam.

In the year 2005 taken additional charge as SP Operations (OSD), in Kakinada, East Godavari District to monitor the extremist activities in the agency area and taken many consecutive steps control the situation. During the period 2008 to 2016, served at AP Police Academy and given basic trainings to 7,575 trainees, which includes Sub Inspectors (Civil, AR,APSP and SPF), Probation Dy.SP, Motor Vehicle Inspectors, Custom and Central Excise Inspectors, Women Constables and Men Constables.

Also, given training to 2,500 trainees, which includes Orientation Course for AP Cadre IPS Officers, Asst. Public Prosecutors, Forest Department Rangers, Bank Guard Trainings and Police Band Training. During the year 2016 to 2018 worked as Principal, PTC Vizianagaram and trained a total of 1,720 Nos, AP State Excise Women Constables, Constables (Civil, AR and Excise), PC to HC – HC to ARSIs and Customs Central Excise Inspectors. Raja worked as General Manager, Vigilance & Security in Sravan Shipping’s for One Year.

  • Andhra University Foot Ball Player and Athletic Champion in the year 1976-77
  • NCC “C” certificate Holder and the only personnel from Andhra Pradesh Police Department, who is selected for Republic Day parade and Prime Minister’s Rally in the year 1977.
  • Champion in AP State Amateur Athletics in 1500 Mtrs and 5000 Mtrs for the year 1982 and 1983.
  • Won 5 Gold Medals viz 800 Mtrs, 1500 Mtrs, 3000 Mtrs, 5000 Mtrs and 10000 Mtrs in AP Police Lanes for 3 years starting from 1983.
  • Open State Championship in 1500 mtrs and 5000 mtrs.
  • Worked as AP Athletic Coach for a period of 5 years
  • 1500 Mtrs Barrier in 4 Minutes is still an Un-Breakable Record in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana State Police Department.

Achievements in Trekking & Mountaineering

  • Being Selected for Indian Trekking Team, successfully summit the Mt. Elbrus (Highest Peak in Europe) in Russia which is of height of

6000 Mtrs .He was the first retired police officer who summit Mt. Elbrus.[3]

  • Also mounted Mt. Kilimanjaro which is Dormant Volcano in Tanzania. It has three Volcanic Cones: Kibo, Mawenzi and Shira. It is the highest mountain in Africa and the Highest single free standing mountain in the world which is 5,895 mtrs above sea level and about 4900 mtrs above its plateau base [4]
