Early life
Frazer is a native of Aberdeen, Scotland. He moved to London in 2000 at age 16 to pursue a music career.[1]
Career
Subsource
Frazer began his career as a session guitarist and then went on to form the live dance/electronic collective Subsource.[2] Subsources’s sound is a fusion of Dubstep and punk/metal with lyrics focused around social commentary[3]. The 2012 documentary Subsource: A Dubumentary follows the bands’ journey over 18 months.[4]
The Mutants
After Subsource, Frazer formed punk-rock band, The Mutants[5], alongside Chris Constantinou and Rat Scabies. In starting the band, they wanted to reunite important artists from the 70s and 80s punk movements.[6] The band released three albums, Rhythm and Punk Review,[7] Tokyo Nights,[8][9] and Your Desert My Mind,[10] which all featured musicians from bands such as MC5, The Specials, and The Damned.[6] “Bamboo Moon” from Tokyo Nights was featured on an episode of Netflix’s Money Heist.[11]
Never Not Nothing (Formerly Black Futures)
In 2017, Frazer and Vinny Welch started Never Not Nothing,[12][13][14][15] releasing their first single, "Love", later that year.[16] NNN signed to the Sony label Music For Nations after a show in which the audience members were kidnapped, blindfolded and taken to a secret location.[17] The band have had guest musicians on their songs, including Bobby Gillespie of Primal Scream.[18]
Never Not Nothing’s first album, Never Not Nothing,[19][20] was released in August 2019,[21][22][23] with a follow-up EP, Art Ritual, released in 2020.[24] The band have toured with Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, as well as headlining tours in the UK and around the world.
Other work
After being told to go and see them play on a small stage at Lovebox Festival in 2013, Frazer started working with Idles and was instrumental in the development of the bands’ sound. He produced and mixed their first two EP’s, Meat and Meta, their demo tape, Meat//Anguish, and their first album, Brutalism. He also produced their second album, Joy as an Act of Resistance.[25][26] Other artists that Frazer has written with and/or produced for include The Prodigy, Jamie Lenman, Talk Show, Libra Libra, Do Nothing, Sick Joy, and Shelf Lives. Frazer has also remixed a Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes track under Never Not Nothing.[27]
In 2014, he worked on the Nuclear Wasteland project, which he wrote and recorded with Anisa Arslanagic and Chris Constantinou at the nuclear disaster site in Chernobyl.[6]
Frazer was the composer, producer and engineer of the score for the feature film The Owners, starring Maisie Williams.[28]
