History

Passwarden was officially released in 2020 on Android, iOS, macOS, and Windows, as well as in the form of browser extensions and a web application. [5]

On launch, Passwarden was reviewed by Techradar, LHN, Digital Information World, and GBHackers.[6] [7] [8] [9]

Since the day of launch, KeepSolid has been offering Passwarden as a separate app and as a part of the MonoDefense® software bundle.[10]

In 2022, Passwarden added a dedicated Security Dashboard feature[11]. Also, in light of the war in Ukraine, KeepSolid made Passwarden free for users with Ukrainian citizenship. [12]

Technology

Passwarden has desktop applications for Windows and macOS and mobile apps for iOS and Android. The app is also available as an extension for Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Edge, and Google Chrome browsers, and as a web app.[13]

Passwarden supports AES-256 and ЕС р-384 protocols for end-to-end data encryption. The software uses master password and two-factor authentication (in the form of one-time codes sent to the user’s email) to protect the user’s account.[14]

Additional features

Besides the features that are common for a password manager, Passwarden offers several proprietary features. One of them is Duress mode, which allows users to hide some of their stored information.[8] The other is a security dashboard, which informs users about security issues with their data (e.g. weak or reused passwords or the user’s login information emerging on the internet due to a security leak). [5]

Passwarden offers three personal or family subscription options: monthly, annual, or lifetime. [3]

Reception

According to TechRadar review in 2021: “Passwarden is an excellent password manager for individuals and small teams.” TechRadar mentions that Passwarden “is pricey for individual users” while also highlighting the app’s shareable vaults and two-factor authentication as its benefits: “It offers two-factor authentication for extra security and enables you to share your vaults with anyone.”[1]

GBHackers gave Passwarden a positive review: “Whether it’s for personal use or your business account, the security of access to your data is paramount. We recommend Passwarden to keep your personal information secure.”[4]

Digital Information World spoke highly about Passwarden in their review: “With competitive pricing, great value, and unique features that nobody else offers, Passwarden is the security solution you’ve been waiting for.”[3]

In their Quick Review, LHN praised Passwarden, stating that “Passwarden is an amazing facility that serves as your very own data storage manager. It allows you to store much more than passwords, something not offered by other high-end password managers. So, it’s a big plus here. Also, the robust security measures that it implements, despite being a new player in the industry, makes it a tough rival for the current leading brands.”[2]
