Olivier Khatib (born June 28, 1993), better known under his stage name Olly Molly, is a French-Lebanese (according to his profile on Spotify)[1] DJ and record producer.

Early life and education

Olly Molly was born Olivier Khatib, in Bastia, Corsica, on 28 June 1993 from a Lebanese father and French mother. Olly Molly began drumming at age 8, before starting his Funk rock band, The Black Glasses. At age 18, he left the island of Corsica to study economics at Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, before moving to London in 2014 to study finance at London School of Economics and computer science at Imperial College London. After graduating, he worked as a quantitative financial analyst at Bank of America in the City of London for 5 years. During these years in the UK, Olivier discovered the electro music scene and started practicing DJ-ing and record producing. He started in 2020 the London-based label and recording studio Olly Molly Records before producing his own music under the nickname Olly Molly (a combination between the exclamation of surprise Holy Moly and Olivier's nickname Olly).

Career

Olly Molly first released his first ever single "Jungle" [2] in October 2022, before releasing his second single "Habibi" (with vocals of the Egyptian singer Umm Kulthum) [3]. It's a week later that Olly Molly releases his hit "Bella Hadid" in reference to American model Bella Hadid during the Paris Fashion Week 2022 [4]. Olly Molly stated on his Instagram profile that he will be releasing his first ever produced album named "The Monopoly of Heart" late November 2022. The title of this latter is a reference to the debate of the 1974 French presidential elections between Valéry Giscard d'Estaing and François Mitterrand.

When DJing, he is noted for his extended sets such as a 8-hour performance in Tulum in 2020.
