Career

Ms. Mills' tenure at the Small Business Administration as Associate General Counsel for Financial Law saw her leading a 30-person team supporting over 10 organizational departments, including the agency’s Office of Capital Access. Her efforts were pivotal in enabling the delivery of over 62,000 new loans worth over $40 billion in 2022.

Prior to this role, Ms. Mills served as the Director of the Strategic Initiatives Directorate at the U.S. Department of Education. Here, she managed programs supporting more than 1600 staff members and was responsible for programmatic support which facilitated $120 billion in annual grant and loan funding.

Her career also includes significant roles in the aerospace and defense sectors, having worked with the Defense Contract Management Agency and the Defense Contract Audit Agency, overseeing large federal contracts and providing legal advice.

In the private sector, Nygina Mills has worked at several preeminent law firms, including Crowell & Moring LLP, Paul Hastings LLP, and FisherBroyles LLP. Her areas of specialization there included corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, financial regulation, and federal government contracts.
