Biography

Khaja Osman Faruquee: The Founder of Sufi Spiritual Foundation and Pioneer of Sufi Muraqaba Method (Meditation)

Within the realm of Sufi spirituality, one name stands out as an illustrious figure who played a pivotal role in reviving and disseminating the profound teachings of Sufism. Khaja Osman Faruquee, a renowned Spiritual meditation master, is celebrated as the founder of the Sufi Spiritual Foundation and credited with inventing the transformative Sufi Spiritual Meditation method. His life and work have left an indelible mark on the lives of countless seekers, guiding them on the path of divine love and spiritual realization.

The Life of Khaja Osman Faruquee': Although Khaja Osman Faruquee hails from a culturally rich and socially respectable family of Boalkhali Upazila in Chattogram district, he was born on 09 September, 1990 at Narinda of Gendaria Thana in old Dhaka – a place where his parents lived in then due to their professional reasons. His thirst for spiritual knowledge and his innate inclination towards divine wisdom became evident from a young age. As he grew older, he embarked on a journey of self-discovery, seeking answers to the profound questions of existence and the true purpose of life.

Not surprisingly, over the years he has established himself as a renowned philosophical thinker, meditation instructor, progressive spiritual teacher, humanitarian worker, and love and peace activist.

As a torch-bearer and an accomplished organizer, he has been serving the society with various knowledge initiatives and different endeavors for several years now. While his core devotion lies in practicing religion and diving deep into the thoughts of pattern, nature and human traits in solitude, he also loves to roam around old towns and civilizations.

Apart from his profound reading habit, Khaja Faurquee also often writes on different aspects, including essays, Islamic Nasheeds, and Sufi poetries.

Being endowed with versatile talent, Khaja Faruquee has written a book titled “My Own Path”, which tells us of his very own thoughts on spirituality and meditation along with Sufism and unquestionably bears the signature of his enviable quality. Furthermore, he is the editor and publisher of a prominent Sufi magazine and Journal called “Sufinama”, which has been critically acclaimed by the contemporary thinkers and well-received by the avid readers of the society.

Influenced by the spiritual teachings of the great Sufi thinkers like Khaja Moinuddin Chisti and Allama Jalaluddin Rumi, Khaja Faruquee has devoted his life to the research of Sufism.

Over the last several years, he has participated in a number of courses that are concerned with spiritual meditation, lifestyle, and muraqaba (a Sufi way of connecting with the Almighty creator). Despite Osman Faruquee intrinsically leans towards spiritual journey, he does not forget the mundane aspects of human lives, which prompted him to work relentlessly in various towns and districts of Bangladesh focusing primarily on mental health, young leadership, and ethical training.

His Encounter with Sufism: It was during his quest for spiritual truth that Khaja Faruquee encountered Sufism. Drawn by the mystical allure of the Sufi path, he found solace in the poetry of Rumi, Hafiz, and other great Sufi poets, who eloquently expressed the language of the heart and its yearning for divine union. Inspired by their words, Khaja Faruquee embarked on a deeper exploration of Sufi teachings and practices.

Founding the Sufi Spiritual Foundation: Guided by his inner vision and spiritual experiences, Khaja Faruquee established the Sufi Spiritual Foundation as a sacred space for seekers to delve into the profound depths of Sufi spirituality. The Foundation became a sanctuary for individuals from diverse backgrounds, offering a welcoming environment where the teachings of love, tolerance, and unity flourished. Apart from that, an orphanage (Shishu Sadan Hifzul Quarn Model Madrasa), an old age home (Birrul Walidain Bridhashrom), a library, and a Sufism research center are going to be established soon by Khaja Faruquee at Harualchari Union in Fatickchari Upazila. In addition to that, Sufinagar Complex is being built with a view to introducing and providing a technology-based education system coupled with religious teachings for children.

The Sufi Muraqaba Method: Khaja Faruquee's most significant contribution to Sufism was the formulation of the Sufi Spiritual Muraqaba method. This method was designed to be a comprehensive approach to meditation that integrated the mystical teachings of Sufism with practical techniques for inner transformation.

The key elements of the Sufi Spiritual Meditation method include:

Dhikr and Mantra Chanting: The repetition of sacred names and mantras to invoke the presence of the Divine and attune the seeker's consciousness with the divine frequencies.

Breathing Techniques: Incorporating rhythmic and mindful breathing patterns to bring focus and tranquillity to the mind, leading to a deeper meditative state.

Visualization and Inner Journey: Encouraging seekers to explore the inner realms of consciousness through guided visualization, helping them connect with the divine light within.

Self-Reflection and Purification: Promoting introspection and self-awareness, guiding seekers to identify and release negative emotions and thought patterns.

Surrender and Fanaa: Cultivating a sense of surrender and egolessness, leading to the experience of Fanaa, the annihilation of the self in the Divine.

Legacy and Impact: Khaja Faruquee's profound teachings and the Sufi Muraqaba method continue to resonate with spiritual seekers worldwide. His legacy lives on through the Sufi Spiritual Foundation, which continues to foster a community of love, peace, and spiritual growth.

Khaja Faruquee, as the founder of the Sufi Spiritual Foundation and the inventor of the Sufi SpirituMuraqaba method, left an enduring impact on the world of Sufi spirituality. Through his teachings and practices, he illuminated the path of divine love and inner transformation, guiding seekers on a journey towards spiritual enlightenment. His dedication to the principles of Sufism continues to inspire and uplift countless souls, bridging the gap between the material and spiritual realms, and fostering a deeper understanding of the universal message of love and unity within Islam.
