Jerry Lee Smith (born September 21, 1963) is a known estate planning agent and a sales trainer. He is known for developing a scenario selling philosophy. Jerry also wrote a book “Checkmate, beat the myths and win the game” [1]

Early Life

Jerry Lee Smith was born on September 21, 1963, in Kokomo, Indiana. He was raised by hardworking parents, and developed an early interest in business. After graduating from high school, he enrolled at Indiana University with the intention of pursuing a marketing career. During his university years, Smith took a part-time job selling Long-Term Care Insurance, which led him to realize he could earn more through practical experience than in a traditional marketing job after graduation. This led him to leave formal education and focus on gaining real-world business experience.

Career

Early Career (1983-1986)

Jerry Lee Smith entered the insurance and financial services industry at the age of 19 in 1983, marking the beginning of his career. After few years, he transitioned it to a full-time work that laid the foundation for his future endeavors. [2]

Entrepreneurial Ventures and Leadership

In 1986, at the age of 23, Smith founded his own company, JL Smith Associates. This entrepreneurial endeavor marked his independent ventures within the industry. Over the years, Smith's expertise and dedication led them to become a sales leader. With a deep understanding of the industry, Smith developed a scenario selling philosophy, an approach to sales. In 1988, by the age of 25, he started conveying this knowledge to others, teaching techniques and strategies to aspiring professionals. [3]

In addition to JL Smith Associates, Smith furthered his entrepreneurial pursuits by founding JLS Marketing Concepts in 2005 and later establishing JLS Sales Academy in 2010. [4]

Smith's dedication to professional development led to the attainment of the designation of Certified Estate Planner.

In 2018, Smith authored the book "Checkmate, Beat the Myths and Win the Game". This book demystifies industry myths and empower the readers.[5]
