He has observed in life that everyone is born with some special talent. He was not an exception. No one in his family was an artist, although he came from a well-educated family. However, he was very sensitive towards the visual world and had a strong inclination towards copying objects from nature, as he was intrigued by their existence. This marked the beginning of his journey as an artist. In college, he chose fine art as his subject for graduation, where Professor Bharat Bhushan Bharti inspired him to pursue his post-graduation in Fine Arts in 1981. This became the foundation of his career as an artist and art teacher.

He draws inspiration from the works of Picasso, Dali, and Edward Munch, as well as his Guru, Prof. Bharat Bhushan Bharti, who is a versatile artist and has greatly influenced him. He admires Indian painters like Satish Gujral, Gaytonde, and Tayab Mehta.

His preferred style of painting is generally abstract expressionism, although as a teacher, he has to work with different mediums and styles. He enjoys experimenting with various mediums such as oil colors, acrylics, and watercolors. Lately, he has developed a preference for painting with acrylics.

During his college days, he was surrounded by talented and competitive peers, which inspired him to strive and compete. Additionally, certain tragic situations occurred in his life during that time, which sparked numerous ideas within him that found expression on canvas.

He derives ideas from life and the situations around him. Any vulnerable social and political situations compel him to comment on contemporary society through his art.

He tends to work in series, as certain situations and ideas impose themselves so strongly that it becomes difficult to move away from them immediately. Thus, he creates a series based on a particular style or idea to delve into it further. However, he also temporarily switches to random subjects, only to return to his main track later on. His series 'UPSURGE' serves as an example of this approach.

Apart from painting, teaching art is his primary passion. Painting is a way of life for him, and he enjoys photography, gardening, music, and traveling as well.

In his family, there are no other artists besides him, making him perhaps the only black sheep in that regard.

His dedication and commitment to education were duly recognized, and in December 2009, Jaspreet Mohan Singh was promoted to the position of Principal at Government Senior Secondary School in Isru, Ludhiana. As a principal, he took on the responsibility of overseeing the school's administration while still nurturing his passion for the arts. His leadership skills and artistic expertise contributed to the overall development and growth of the institution.
