BIOGRAPHY
Erick Kristal is a significant figure in reggae in Benin and whose music is booming Africa from Italy where he has been living since 2000.
Originally from Benin, he will quickly be noticed by the originality of his reggae and the tone of his lyrics that never stop shaking people's consciences. The first son of a family of six children, Erick SANGNIDJO was born on March 8, 1976 in Covè in Benin but spent his childhood in Porto-Novo. Very early at the age of 18, the young boy became an orphan of a father with whom he has woven a great bond. The young boy knew very tumultuous years thereafter. Little dad for his brothers, he faces a lot of pressure from the family of his late father. But Kristal does not budge with the help of her widowed mother at the age of 36. Two rules matter and will mark the child for his whole life: "you have to speak loudly and fight for your dream, don't lie, whatever the consequences", and "expect nothing from anyone but be generous and tolerant towards all”. He has forged principles and a strong character over time.
Passionate about music, Erick Kristal was given a first guitar, a gift from the Church he attended during his adolescence in Porto-Novo. Influenced by Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan..., tries his hand at groups he forms with his classmates and neighborhood friends.
Holder of a degree in computer management programming in the 97s, he holds positions of programmer and computer teacher in well-known institutes in Porto-Novo.
In 2000, he was welcomed in Europe more precisely in Italy where he left his suitcase to pursue his musical career. He then went through several musical formations including the "Madingo Style" with Abou, an Ivorian brother.
Thereafter he was solicited for Pubs in Modena, his city of residence. Then it is an integral part with Jungle Fever. This is the beginning of a new adventure that will consecrate Kristal's career. He participates in several competitions and modern music festivals, reggae in Italy and surroundings ... 2005, precisely on August 05th, he receives his first award in Italy Best Singer, Best Style of music. But very unsatisfied with this "little consecration".
Always motivated by his passion, in 2009, he participated in one of the musical programs largest in Italy with Jerry Scooty and at Talent I.
His Reggae-sounding music blends in perfectly with the Italian musical landscape. And this Pan-Africanist touch is what makes the Beninese singer so successful. Hence the birth of his first opus of 12 titles “They are trying again” was very colorful in African style. Thus we find easily evils that bog down the development of Africa and Benin in particular.
His hits are often ranked among the best reggae and world music compilations on the sales platforms of Tubes in Lines. Despite his local and European success, Erick Kristal continues to bring out his music by always going to conquer the world. Today holder of 3 richly furnished albums, followed by the trophy for Best Artist of the viewers (Benin Top 10 December 2021) he is positioned on the African record market as one of the most promising talents.
In 2014, his album "Ilé Ifê Africa" sounds like a hymn to freedom and peace in Africa, a land of hope and hospitality.
On October 30, 2014, he received the prize of Best Lyrics with his title “Ilé Ifê Africa” from his 2nd Audio album in Bologna, Italy.
The Album "Ilé Ifê Africa" will be nominated again in 2015 at AFRIMAR - All Africa Music Awards. Wake Up Africa son latest album released in August 2021, carries it through festivals and various events to follow on its pages.
Throughout the world, he reveals reggae made in Benin and made in Italy with a unique blend of his genre Second revelation: the singer turns out to be "a beast of the stage". He goes through the various festivals here and moreover and gives performances in the largest rooms. His stage talents are not for nothing in its success which will certainly become worldwide very soon.
