eXp Realty® is an American-owned, international real estate brokerage owned by eXp World Holdings, Inc and is the world’s first cloud-based real estate brokerage.[1] It was founded in 2009 in Seattle, Washington, and has expanded operations to 23 countries with a community of over 88,000 real estate agents worldwide.[2][3]
History
eXp Realty was launched in 2009 by founder Glenn Sanford as the antithesis of how traditional real estate brokerages operate.[4] It re-defined the world of traditional real estate by replacing brick-and-mortar offices with its unique cloud-based platform.[5]
eXp Realty’s international footprint began with Canada in 2012. Since then it has expanded to 23 countries around the world, with a community of over 86,000 agents worldwide. These include operations in United Kingdom, Australia, South Africa, India, Mexico, Portugal, France, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Italy, Hong Kong, Colombia, Spain, Israel, Panama, Germany, Dominican Republic, Greece, New Zealand, Chile, Poland and Dubai and continues to scale internationally.[6]
eXp Realty has partnered with charities such as New Story. Known agents include Share Ross[7].
In 2018, eXp acquired VirBELA, a cloud-based environment focused on education and team development with clients in various industries from government to retail. In 2016, VirBELA developed eXp Realty’s current cloud campus called eXp World, which provides 24/7 access to collaborative tools, training and socialization for the company’s agents and staff.
In 2019, eXp Realty became the first brokerage to be certified by Real Estate Standards Organization (RESO), the trade association that governs how data flows in the real estate industry.[8][9][10]
In 2020, eXp World Holdings, the parent company of eXp Realty, acquired Showcase IDX, a leading real estate search technology company currently based in Atlanta, Georgia. While wholly-owned by eXp World Holdings, Showcase IDX will continue to operate independently and will still support services for its existing customers, which are thousands of agents from North American brokerages.
With the acquisition of Showcase IDX in 2020, an IDX Plugin for WordPress websites, eXp Realty launched its national consumer property search portal for the United States on exprealty.com and a portal for Canada at exprealty.ca.
Later in 2020, eXp acquired SUCCESS Enterprises, including the highly coveted SUCCESS.com domain and web property. SUCCESS is a U.S.-based business magazine that was founded in 1897 by achievement philosopher Orison Swett Marden. In its 123-year lifespan, SUCCESS has become one of the leading publications in the United States covering personal and professional development through inspiration, motivation and training.
eXp Realty Paid Over $240 Million in Revenue Share and Equity Benefits to Agents and Brokers in 2022.[11]
In 2023, T3 Sixty’s Real Estate Almanac named eXp Realty the largest US real estate brokerage in terms of Agent Count and the number of transaction sides in 2022, while being the 4th largest real estate brokerage in terms of 2022 sales volume.
