Dr. Shanila Laiju
With over 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry, Dr. Shanila Laiju is the Group CEO of Medcare Hospitals & Medical Centres, a leading hospital and healthcare group in the UAE. She has led the transformation of Medcare into a trusted and innovative provider of quality and compassionate care.
A dentist by profession, she graduated from the Government Dental College in Trivandrum, India, in 1994. She later pursued a Master of Hospital Administration from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Mumbai, India. She joined Aster DM Healthcare, the parent company of Medcare, in 2004, and took over as the Group CEO of Medcare in 2019.
She has been awarded and recognized for her achievements and contributions to the healthcare sector. In 2021, Forbes Middle East featured her among the Top 50 Indian Executives in the Arab World, and in 2020, Arabian Business named her among the 100 Smartest People in the UAE.
