Dr. Guru Prasad Sultanpurkar is an Indian orthopedic surgeon who has made significant contributions to the medical field. His commitment to social service and patient care has earned him numerous accolades and recognition.

Early Life

He was born on December 31, 1986, at Ibrahimpatnam, a village near Vijaywada to S Manik Rao, chief engineer and Nanda. He is married to Reshma (also a doctor by profession) and has a son. His brother Sri Ganesh is an entrepreneur who has online stores by name tryitfirst.in and rapifix.com.

Currently, Dr. Guru Prasad runs his own clinic called SUMANA Orthopedic Clinic at Manikonda, Hyderabad. He is fluent in English, Hindi, Marathi, and Telugu and has a love for listening to audiobooks and reading books. He also participated in the badminton inter-university competition. Education

He completed his schooling at DAV school in Ibrahimpatnam and went on to earn his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from Pinnamaneni Siddhartha Medical College and Research Centre in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh in 2010. He then pursued Diplomate in National Board (DNB) Orthopedics from Durgabai Deshmukh Hospital, Hyderabad, Telangana in 2016, and Fellowship in Joint Replacement from Sunshine Hospital, Hyderabad in 2017. Later, he completed his senior residency at NIMS Hospital.


Awards & Accolades

Dr. Guru Prasad has been recognized for his contributions to the medical field. In 2017, he was awarded the "Best Doctor" award by Suman Art Theatres. He was also recognized by the Guinness World Records for participating in the largest men’s health awareness lesson with 487 attendees, organized by MNJ Institute of Oncology and JB Group of Educational Institutions in Hyderabad in October 2018. Dr. Guru Prasad is also a recipient of the Abdul Kalam Award and has been felicitated by Somavanshi Sahasrarjun Samaj and Telangana Maratha Mandal.

Social Services

Dr. Guru Prasad has also been actively involved in social activities throughout his career. He has conducted numerous health camps through the campaign SAKRIYA, offering free consultation and medications to those in need. He has also been associated with NGOs like DAKSHAS, where he has served in old age homes. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he actively participated with NGOs like DAKSHAS to create awareness among healthcare workers in old age homes and supplied masks and other emergency needs to healthcare workers and resident doctors who were more prone to infection. He also participated in the COVID-19 vaccination program and conducted online consultations, which were offered for free.
