The Avaloq Group AG is located in Freienbach.

The Avaloq Group emerged from a spin-off from Martin Ebners BZ Group and employs more than 600 people. It generated a turnover of 130 million Swiss francs in 2007.

History

The company was founded in 1985 in Zurich with the name BZ Informatik Aktiengesellschaft, a subsidiary of the BZ Bank.[2] Through a Management-Buy-out, the management of the BZ Informatik took over 30 percent of the share capital. In the mid-90s the company started to develop a standard banking software. In 2001 it was renamed to «Avaloq Evolution AG» in Zurich, a company which belongs to the «Avaloq Group AG» in Freienbach. At the same time the company started with the market launch of the Avaloq Banking System.

In 2002, the Avaloq Group was split up from the BZ Group and the share capital was fully overtaken by the management and employees. After winning several foreign banks as new customers, Avaloq founded subsidiaries in Luxembourg and Singapore. Avaloq, now the number two in the Swiss banking software industry, won three big cantonal banks in 2008[3] and has now a market share of 42 percent in the market for Core Banking Systems for banks with more than 550 employees.
