Dark Star Records is a US-based music distribution label associated with Sony Music Entertainment.[1] The label has released over 100 albums worldwide. The bands of Dark Star Records are available on radio, video, iTunes, and Amazon sales lists. Many of the bands of this label have been featured in movies, commercials, and video games worldwide.

History and Descriptions

Dark Star Records was founded by Jeffrey A. Swanson in 1996. The record label initially offered CDs for online sale.[2] The company produced music of various genres, including Gothic, Hard Rock, Mainstream, Industrial, Progressive, Metal, and Hardcore.[3][4] In 2000, the company established itself as an official record label. In 2002, Dark Star Records released the Carnivore Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, which featured several artists, including LA Guns, Holland, and Nitro.[5] In 2003, the label collaborated with Synergy Distribution and put CDs and DVDs into major chains like Tower Records and Virgin Megastores.[6]
