Damon Nam
Damon Nam was born on June 15, 1977 in Dallas, Texas. He is a technology executive, Microsoft alumnus, investor, and entrepreneur. He has worked seventeen years at Microsoft, and the past six years as a founder in the blockchain industry, focusing on decentralized financial and technology solutions. Background
Damon was born and raised in Dallas, Texas in 1977. His parents were immigrants from Vietnam that fled the war to the United States via a sponsorship program for refugees. His family started with humble beginnings in a one-room government housing project in South Dallas. Despite being refugees with no English, the family was able to build a successful real estate business and portfolio of properties over the next 30 years.
Damon is an avid fan of sports and an athlete at heart. He has played soccer, basketball, and football throughout his life and received a tryout for the Ft. Wayne Fury semi-professional basketball team of the Continental Basketball Association in the Summer of 1996. That same Summer, Damon received an internship opportunity at Microsoft as a Student Consultant. He bypassed the opportunity with Ft. Wayne Fury to join the company and helped achieved the program's largest win by assisting Southern Methodist University adopt Windows 95, NT, and Visual Studio across campus technology infrastructure systems and college curriculum. Upon graduating, Damon was recruited by several companies including IBM, Oracle, Microsoft, KPMG, and more. He accepted a full-time role with Microsoft upon graduating college in 1999.
During his seventeen-year tenure at Microsoft, he assumed a number of different roles within the Microsoft Services organization. In his first role as a Technical Account Manager, Damon was a liaison and customer advocate for Microsoft's Fortune 1000 customers in the Central Region. A few years later, he transitioned into a Resource Manager role and aided Microsoft's internal field teams by providing delivery solutions for the Services organization. In his last role at Microsoft as a US Services Program Director, he was responsible for driving and managing the Preferred Services Partner program for the US subsidiary; a program with approximately seventy-five partner organizations and a total book of business of over $90 million in revenue.
Following Microsoft, Damon started a number of businesses including an investment firm and several technology startups. His investment and business interests have been centered around technology, beverage, fashion, blockchain, and finance.
Education
Damon studied Information Technology and has a Bachelor of Science in Business from Southern Methodist University, where he graduated in 1999.
Achievements
Damon has enjoyed a decorated career in the corporate world at Microsoft where he worked for over seventeen years. He left Microsoft to pursue his aspirations of starting his own technology business and has been working as a founder in the blockchain industry for the past six years. During this time, his startups have raised and generated millions in funding and revenue.
