Damhnait Monaghan is a Canadian writer.[1] On June 23, 2022, she was awarded the Kobo Emerging Writer Prize, for Romance, for her first novel, New Girl in Little Cove.[2] Kobo, an online publisher, provides awardees a $10,000 prize, and support in marketing their books.[3]

According to Quill & Quire, Romance judge Nana Malone described the novel as a “poker-faced slow burn of a romance that thoroughly satisfies.”[1] The novel's hero is a school teacher, and it is set in Newfoundland.[2] Malone said readers would find it similar to Derry Girls.

Monaghan gave a book reading at The Imaginarium, a book store in Lymington, Ontario, on December 8, 2022.[4]
