Cariol Holloman Horne is a former officer with the Buffalo Police Department.

In 2006, after she and ten other officers responded to a domestic violence call, she intervened when white officer Gregory Kwiatkowski was applying a choke-hold to suspect Neal Mack, even though he had been subdued, and said he couldn't breathe.

The two officers struggled, and Kwiatkowski broke her nose. She would later require facial reconstruction surgery.
