Brushstrokes For History is a non-profit organization based in Broward County, Florida, dedicated to transforming communities through art and preserving the lesser-known history of the region. Founded by Yana Danzig, a visionary artist, avid gardener, and community activist, the organization has become a catalyst for connecting artists with the rich stories and history of Broward County.

Founder

  • Yana Danzig* initiated Brushstrokes For History at the age of 17 while still a high school student. Her passion for art, community activism, and love for gardening converged into a mission to elevate the often overlooked history of Broward County. Yana's vision is to inspire others to become the brush that paints history across the United States and Canada.

Mission

Brushstrokes For History's mission is to serve as the brush that paints the history of communities that may be overshadowed. Through the collaboration between artists and residents, the organization transforms wooden panels, originally used to cover broken doors and windows, into beautiful works of art. These creations represent the stories and history of lesser-known areas in Broward County, including the iconic Sistrunk Blvd.
