Behzad Qasemi is a hacker and cybersecurity expert from Iran.[1] He is the founder of Overclock CyberSecurity Lab.[2] Qasemi has been involved in hacktivist activities since the 2010s.[3][4] He won the Golden Shield of the 2024 Iran Cybersecurity Summit.[5]

Early life

Behzad Qasemi was born on September 26, 1993 in Tehran, Iran. He is a hacker, programmer and cybersecurity expert. Qasemi has been working as a hacktivist on the Internet since the 2010s.[6] In 2009, he founded Iran's first independent cybersecurity laboratory called Overclock Cybersecurity Laboratory.[7] Qasemi has appeared in television programs as an expert. He is the host of the Zeroday podcast.[8]

Hactivism

Behzad Qasemi registers his hacks under the pseudonym. Sites that are attacked by Qasemi will not harm their information. He writes this text in all his Deface statements: "Your information has not been harmed, don't worry."

  • 2012: Shutting down the website server of Charlie Hebdo publication following the publication of caricatures of the Prophet of Islam.[4]
  • 2018: Hacking a number of Iranian websites in protest of the disorderly situation of the people of Khuzestan [4]
  • 2018: Hacking the website of the Bahrain Registry Office after one of the officials of Bahrain insulted the people of Iran [4]
  • 2023: Hacking of a number of sites following the protest against the burning of the Qoran in Sweden [9]
  • 2024: Hacking the website of Israel-affiliated SM Media in support of the people of Gaza [10]
