Early Life
Shaikh Faridul Islam(Lion Farid) is from Village Baradia, PS. Rampal, District: Bagerhat. His father Alhaj SK Abdur Rahman is a retired businessman & mother Alhaj Shakhina Begum is house wife. His only uncle Alhaj SK Mohammed Ali is retired government school teacher. He have married Halima Nusrat D/O Alhaj SK Nazrul Islam, retired govt.college teacher & Alhaj Selina Afroj, retired school teacher. His wife is Director of there company. [1]
Education
He have completed primary education from own village Baradia, S.S.C. (1984) from Baintala Kashipur High school & H.S.C. (1986) from Abul Kalam College, Rampal, Bagerhat. He have obtained B.A. Honors & M.A. (1990 exam held in 1992) from Dhaka University.I havecompleted Ph.D(2012) on Environmental Science (Tile: A study on the climate change and livelihood in Sundarbans Bangladesh), American World University, CA USA. Personal Life
He joined Neptune Orient Lines (NOL), Singapore national shipping lines in 1992. He won NOL “CEO AWARD 1996” for outstanding contribution through consistent performance & demonstration of service excellence. In 1998 he has visited UK, France, USA & Canada to develop the business of NOL Singapore. During these tours, he havegiven training to all business development managers of NOL UK, USA & Canada.During the service with NOL, he have received many quality training like Professional Selling Skill, Basic Relationship marketing program, Coaching & mentoring, Quality Team Members etc from international trainers. Business Life
He have started own Freight forwarding business “Swift Freight International Ltd.” in 1999 with 2 member team & today it’s a company of 60 people. His Head office is located at Banani, Dhaka (own premises 4000 SFT) & Branch office is located at Agrabad C/A Chittagong. They are working as one of the market leader in the forwarding industry of Bangladesh. [4]
Career
He have joined Lions club of Dhaka Mega City under District 315A2 in 2007. He is selected “Best Lionfor 2008-2009, 2009-2010, 2010-2011, 2011-2012& 2014-2015” in the club.At present he is President of Dhaka Mega City Lions Club. He is organizing free eye camp in Rampal & Mongla, Bagerhat every year since 2009.About 50 thousand patients attended and 4,500 patients have done eye operations (including cataracts, DCR, DCT) at Lions Eye Hospital, Dhaka. He is supporting poor people for medical treatment on a regular basis. He has donated many School-College, Masjid-Madrasa, Mandir& Eatim Khanaof Rampal & Mongla, Bagerhat. He is also providing rickshaw Van, boat, fishing net & swing machine etcof my area. He is giving scholarship to the poor students since 2005. He is also giving school bag, uniform, exam fees & books for poor students.
He is permanent member of Kurmitola Golf Club& Army Golf Club, Dhaka. He was member of Kurmitola Golf Club Tournament Committee 2009-20016. He is Chairman of “Save the Sundarbans Foundation”. He is also holding the position of Senior Vice Chairman atCentre for Human Right movement.Recently government is building a Coal Power Plant (Bangladesh-India joint venture) at Rampal adjacent to Sundarbans which would damage its unique characteristics. In order to save Sundarbans, they have arranged many Seminars, Human Chain& Citizen Rally together with TIB, BAPA, BELA, PABA to stop coal power plant in Rampal, Bagerhat.
