Template:Merge Abdul Rauf (1981[1] – February 9, 2015)[2] was a Taliban commander who was killed by a NATO airstrike in northern Helmand Province in 2015.[3]

Rauf had spent six years detained in Guantanamo Bay after being captured by the US military in 2001, where he revealed detailed knowledge of opium production in Afghanistan.[4] At the time of his death he had sworn allegiance to Islamic State.
