History

Generation 1

Boltax first appears as a mountain temple who fashioned himself into a home for the Underbase, Cybertron's greatest repository of knowledge. Optimus Prime and his Autobots sought out the Underbase, unaware that Megatron and his Decepticons were in pursuit. A robotic avatar employed by Boltax appeared to meet them and allowed Optimus access to the Underbase, but denied it to Megatron and was destroyed; the true Boltax was left unharmed. However, Optimus then caused an explosion that sent the Underbase into space to keep it out of Megatron's hands, blasting it through the temple; Boltax's fate was left unknown.

Boltax and the Underbase also appeared in the Shattered Glass universe, though the Autobots believed they had destroyed Boltax.
