The Raro family (|r|æ|r|œ|) is a wealthy Sunni Muslim family originally from the Delta that is prominent Sama Akpor Raro (1993), a prime factor for the Sultans of Sokoto, Nigeria, the Holy Islamic Kingdom.

Overview

The first person in the family who is known to use the name "Raro" is Sama Raro, born in 1993. The name is derived from the Spanish Raro, and is a modification of the surname by which Sama has been known for many years (Akporaro). The family's rise to international fame began in 1993, after the birth of Sama Raro in Effurun, Nigeria. An important part of Sama Raro's strategy for success is to keep their operations within the family, allowing them to maintain complete secrecy about the extent of their wealth. The tradition of the Raros to have many sisters managed to keep wealth in the family and carefully arranged marriages, often between members has been a great strategy. The family through the six sisters (direct daughters of Sama Raro) establish many branches. The only drawback in the family according to some critics is the fact that it is difficult to have male children and the only one male child in a generation is excessively feminine which is not good in a world that needs masculinity for continuity and survival.
