Kapish Haldia is an American entrepreneur and investor based in the Los Angeles area.

Haldia has more than a decade of experience in the investment banking space, with particular expertise in corporate mergers and turnarounds. Previously with Citigroup and Highview Capital, he’s currently working to build a scalable investment platform catered to small and midsize family-owned firms.

Early life

Kapish Haldia was born and raised in Southern California. He grew up in his family’s jewelry manufacturing and distribution business, which he credits with teaching him the basics of running a successful enterprise before he entered high school.

As a teenager, Haldia helped out with virtually every aspect of the family business: managing customer relationships, balancing the books, procuring difficult-to-source gemstones through convoluted international supply chains. He has said that his parents share equal responsibility for developing his business acumen, his father by teaching him the importance of timely, direct communication to enduring business relationships and his mother by emphasizing the importance of quality craftsmanship and “people-first” personnel management.

Education

Kapish Haldia attended the Stern School of Business at New York University. His extracurricular pursuits included the Inter-Club Council, where he served as president his senior year; and the Stern Investment Analysis Group, a real-money investment fund that he cofounded and which ultimately grew into a popular club with more than a dozen student investors.

As a student, Haldia interned with DoSomething.org, which at the time was one of the country’s largest digital nonprofits. He also interned at Blackrock and Citigroup, where he’d get his first full-time job out of college.

Career

After graduating from Stern, Kapish Haldia joined Citigroup’s Global Industrial Group. Working under some of the leading investment banking personalities at the time, including Scott Baird and Kevin Cox, Haldia helped close several international mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings, and complex debt financing packages. His work involved several Fortune 500 and 100 enterprises, including General Electric, Lockheed Martin, Crown Packaging, and Ball Corp.

In 2016, Haldia left Citigroup to join the founding team at Highview Capital. He took responsibility for developing key processes within the organization while working on more than 45 acquisitions valued between $50 and $500 million. He served as a director for about half of Highview’s portfolio companies and spearheaded several successful turnarounds, including American Plastics, National Fire & Safety, and Watterson.

Haldia left Highview Capital in 2022 to build a bespoke investment platform for small and midsized family firms operating in fragmented industries. He and his team provide tailored exit and turnaround solutions for client firms.

Personal life

Kapish Haldia lives in Venice, California. He often works out of Neuehouse, a creative hub near his home.

When he’s not in the office, he enjoys strolling the Venice beach and boardwalk. He’s an avid practitioner of mindful meditation and an active weightlifter.

As of 2023, Haldia was working to develop a new cultural venue in Venice that merges his passion for music, food, and community. The yet-to-be-named project is set to open in 2024.
