Casey Reid (born 5 August, 1997) is a Jamaican professional footballer who predominantly plays as a centre-back.[1][2][3][4] He holds dual nationality, being both a British National and Jamaican.[4]

Early life and career

Casey Reid was born in Manchester, England. He began his football journey with Curzon Ashton FC in England before moving on to the youth setup of Rochdale AFC and later Morecambe FC.[1][2][5][3]

Senior Playing Career

In 2012, Reid made his move to the professional side, Rochdale AFC, where he showcased his skills as a talented defender. He then went on a loan spell to Skelmersdale United F.C. before joining Chorley FC.[1][5] Seeking new horizons, Reid decided to explore opportunities in the United States and made a move to join San Jose Earthquakes U23 team in 2019.[1][2][5]

Following his time with San Jose Earthquakes U23, Casey Reid made a move to the American USL side Reno 1868, where he continued to impress with his defensive abilities.[1][6][5]

Later, in the 2020/2021 season, he also featured for San Jose Earthquakes reserves. Subsequently, he had a loan spell at Fursan Hispania FC from 2021 to 2023.[1][2][5]

International Career

Casey Reid's received his first call-up for the senior men's training camp in May 2017, as part of the preparation for the 2017 Gold Cup.[6] Notably, he achieved the distinction of becoming the youngest overseas player to receive an international call-up for the Jamaica men's national team at the age of 19 years and 11 months.[2]

Reid's international journey continued, earning him five caps for the Jamaican senior men's squad. Due to his impressive performances, he was also selected to represent Jamaica in the Olympic qualifiers.[6]

Apart from his appearances for the senior squad, Reid also represented Jamaica at the youth level and was part of the Jamaican Olympic team.[6]

Personal life

Casey Reid's dual nationality allows him to be both a British and Jamaican citizen, representing the nation of his heritage on the international stage.[4]
