Black Ice Software, LLC. is a software development company. It supplies document conversion, printing, viewing, imaging, and faxing solutions.[1]

Overview

Black Ice Software offers Windows OS-compatible development toolkits, virtual PDF/TIFF printer drivers, PDF/TIFF viewer/editor, PDF document merge and combines solutions, TIFF Viewer Browser Extension, OEM printer drivers, print to email with support for eFax, Batch converters, remote printing, and faxing software.[2]

It develops and sells software, including document converter toolkits for printer driver technology, imaging development toolkits, and applications used globally by software companies, e-commerce, medical imaging, integrators, VARS, and financial corporations through various partners, resellers, and distributors.[1]

Black Ice Software operates on the following trademarks, ™Print2Email, ™Burning Chrome, ™Impact Fax, and ™Drag & Drop Printing, ™IceViewer.

History

Black Ice Software was founded by Jozsef Nemeth, President, and CEO, in 1989 in Nashua, New Hampshire.[1] Currently, it is headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida. It developed ColorFax, fax software to be used with HP multifunction printers in early 2000.[3] In August of 2000, Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge ruled in favor of Black Ice Software against the California-based anti-spam organization Mail Abuse Prevention System (MAPS).[4]

In 2001 Black Ice Software released and Trademarked the Print2Email.[5] In 2012, the company issued a lawsuit against the largest optical lens manufacturer in the country, Essilor of America, saying that the international giant ripped it off to the tune of $13.1 million.[6]

On March 24, 2010, the company launched version 13.10 of the Black Ice Printer Drivers, which completed the addition of existing SharePoint, email, redirect printing, and watermark features for post-printing and saving as Windows.[7][8] On April 24, 2013, Black Ice Software released version 13.60 of the Black Ice Virtual Printer Drivers, which includes content-based barcode printing on documents as the software converts the document.[1]

Black Ice Software released the following solutions over the years;

  • Version 12.50 of the Monochrome, ColorPlus, and PDF Black Ice Printer Drivers (June 15, 2010),[9] Updated to 17.20+ (December 8, 2022)[3][4]
  • Version 8.0 of the TIFF Viewer and Browser Plug-In (April 16, 2007)[10] Updated to 14.33+ (February 07, 2023)
  • Version 6.0 of Print2Email (June 15, 2007)[11] Updated to version 12.06+ (February 17, 2023)
  • Version 1.65 of the HTML5-based IceViewer (December 23, 2022)
  • Version 6.91 of the remote printing software Print2RDP (January 23, 2023),)[12]
  • Version 8 of Impact Fax Server (June 1, 2007)[13]
  • Version 6 of Impact Fax Broadcast (June 1, 2007)[14]
