HISTORY

Omar Parker is an American media producer & executive of Lebanese-Irish descent.

He graduated from Montana State University in 2019 with honors in film & photography. While in college he started Egerton Crescent Productions with Charles Burt his producing partner. Together they would produce 16 features, 24 short films, and 2 mini series in just under a decade. With titles landing as official selections at every festival under the sun including Sundance, Cannes, Tribeca, TIFF, Sitges, and showing in over 100 nations, while also being acquired by companies like Gravitas Ventures. These films featured talent like Michael Madsen, Eric Roberts, Fred Melamed, Barry Bostwick, Jane Kaczmarek, George Lazenby, Michael Pare, Forrest Goodluck, Daniel Baldwin, Kevin Sorbo, Tom Sizemore, Danielle Harris, & Brinke Stevens.

Parker also got involved in the digital media space, creating and working with many brands. His first digital brand was Captain's Log, a YouTube channel dedicated to the Star Trek fandom started out of quarantine boredom. The brand amassed over 100K subscribers, earning him a Silver Play Button before Parker moved onto Allrites. Allrites is a CaaS (Content as a service) platform that sells content to up and coming OTT platforms around the world. While there Parker was the business development manager, helping to foster new relationships with streaming services. He helped create opportunities with Crackle, LG, Planet Theta, ChimeTV, TCL, and many more while helping to train their sales team.

In 2022, Parker became a producer at TBNR. TBNR was a Forbes top 10 YouTube conglomerate of 7 channels with 70 million+ subscribers run by Preston and Brianna Arsement, with nearly 100 full time employees. While there he produced many videos and shorts that amassed over 1 billion views and frequently hit top spots on the Youtube trending page, leading a full time production team of 20+ employees. Parker also aided in brand deals for the channel with companies like Warner Bros, Paramount, Lego, Air Up, Zuru, & GameStop. He also collaborated with other YouTubers like Mr. Beast, Mark Rober, Unspeakable, ZHC, & Lachlan. Parker also consulted for true crime YouTube channel Dr. Insanity.

PERSONAL LIFE

Omar Parker is the co-founder of Egerton Crescent Productions[1], known for El Eden (2016), Damiana (2017), and Ultraviolet (2018). While still an undergraduate, he had produced short films that premiered at Berlin, Cannes, Sundance, Tribeca, and Tiff. Even more amazing, he was one of the first individuals to ever be a producer on two separate Sundance shorts both in competition at the same time. He also was one of the youngest producers to be in competition in any category at Cannes, at the young age of nineteen. Other notable films include features The Burying Party (2018), which is currently available on Amazon Prime for streaming, and Luz (2019), which premiered at Sitges late last year.

Now Omar has begun a new venture, seeking to expand his success stories to web content, having started the web series Captain’s Log, which can be found at their YouTube page of the same name, and soon at the now under construction captainslog.tv. The content aims to be a fan central brand, helping to explain and explore new events in the fandom. The web series will also be a place of fan discourse and celebration. Omar has stated that he intends to host numerous series, some including some surprise guests in the near future.

In addition to his old business partner Charlie Burt, Omar has added a new partner Jonathan Gower into the fold. Jonathan Gower and Omar Parker met in college while getting their B.A. in Film at Montana State University. Gower has worked as a production coordinator at Egerton Crescent Productions before, and has written and directed comedy films with Omar in the past like Puppetmania (2015) and Raw Sauce (2016). He has been described in videos by Omar as “the biggest Trekkie he knows,” and “a leading Trekkie expert.”

So far the channel has garnered nearly nine thousand subscribers despite having only been around for ten weeks. When asked about why he founded the channel, Omar said he was aiming to produce more relaxed content. “...most of my life has been big franchises, fandoms, YouTube, and gaming. Making this kind of content is what I’ve always wanted to produce. I really do enjoy film producing, but i'm not a big art film guy.

CAREER

Omar Parker is a Montana State University graduate from their film & photography program. During his time at MSU he was named to the honor roll four times, and was a teacher’s assistant to his producing professor Dennis Aig. He even was a teaching assistant to Aig’s postgraduate producing class due to his out of school accomplishments while he was attending. While in school he would meet his college sweetheart and future wife Bridgett Parker, as well as his two future business partners Charlie Burt & Jonathan Gower.

With Charlie Burt, he founded a production company known as Egerton Crescent Productions. The duo began the company and started producing at just seventeen and eighteen respectively. Parker & Burt are in fact some of the youngest producers to ever have a film be an official selection of Cannes Film Festival, and the duo did it twice before the age of twenty three with both Damiana and Anna. Parker has actually recalled how odd it was to have that level of success at such a young age. Parker stated, “I actually couldn’t even get into a lot of Sundance parties when we first made it. I was still only twenty and Utah has pretty strict twenty one and up rules for bars. So I had to sneak into my own film party.” More recently the duo has been producing horror features made by the Mahal Empire like Death Count, a Michael Madsen movie that has recently been acquired by Gravitas Ventures.

With Jonathan Gower, he would start a YouTube channel during quarantine known as Captain’s Log. It was a YouTube channel and later a platform that celebrated the Star Trek fandom as well as livestreamed video games, and talked about nerd culture in general. Gower has stated that Parker really turned the platform into what it was. “I was bored and had an idea for like making some Star Trek videos for fun. We couldn’t make any movies or do anything else during the early days of COVID. And Omar really just took the idea and ran with it. He took an idea and turned it into a massive fan base and brand,” Gower stated.

More recently, Omar is in the process of creating an OTT platform known as Road Sofa. The platform is designed specifically for Gen Z, and is set to appeal to their unique humor and ideas. As the platform has just been announced there isn’t too much to talk about here but given Parker’s young track record it’s safe to say he could be on to something.

Parker’s tenacity and willingness to try new mediums is something that many other producers in Hollywood don’t seem ready for. This gives him a distinct leg up and in many ways already has. Many of these ideas like Captain’s Log or his new OTT platform become something bigger than just a single title; the usage of new technology allows him to be popular with an audience that has otherwise confused Hollywood so far. It is safe to say most of Hollywood will watch where Parker goes over these next few years.
