Ritu Maheshwari is a bureaucrat and public servant from India. She is an IAS officer from Punjab heritage.[1] At present, she serves in the capacity of the Divisional Commissioner of Agra, Uttar Pradesh.[1]

She assumed her initial charge in February 2005 as the Joint Magistrate and Collector of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. She was born in 1978. She is married to Mr. Mayur Maheshwar, with whom she raises two children.

Ritu Maheshwari, one of the most well-known public servants in our nation, has won multiple accolades for her devoted and enthusiastic public service.[2]

Early Life

Ritu Singla, also known as Ritu Maheshwari, was born on July 14, 1978.[3] The state of Punjab is where she was born. Shri C.D. Singla and Smt. Saroj Singla is her parents. Monika Gupta and Rishabh Singla are her two siblings.

Education

During her formative years, she attended D.A.V. School, M.C.M DAV College, Chandigarh. Subsequently, she attended Punjab Engineering College to earn a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in electrical engineering. She enrolled at the esteemed Amity University in Noida to pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Executive Development after her engineering graduation.[4]

Career

Ritu Maheshwari was appointed to the junior-level position of Joint Magistrate and Collector of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, in February 2005. She assumed the position of Joint Magistrate and SDM in Allahabad in July 2005. Her responsibilities encompassed the management of land revenue and the administration of the district.

She was appointed District Collector of Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, in June 2007.

In 2008, Ritu Maheshwari assumed the position of Additional Commissioner in the city of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. She assumed the role of District Magistrate and Collector of Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, in 2009.

She assumed the position of vice chairman of the Hapur Pilakhuwa Development Authority in Ghaziabad in May 2010 in The state of Uttar Pradesh.

She assumed the role of Managing Director of KESCO (Kanpur Electricity Supply Company) in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, in April 2011. She held the positions of District Magistrate and Collector in the Uttar Pradesh regions of Pilibhit (2012) and Shahjahanpur (2013).

She assumed the role of director (administrative) of the Uttar Pradesh Medical and Health Service in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, in February 2013. As of October 2013, she assumed the role of additional commissioner of Food & Civil Supplies for the Uttar Pradesh Government and served as special secretary to the Food & Civil Supplies Department.

She assumed the role of MD, of the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission, in 2014.

She was appointed special secretary to the Government of Uttar Pradesh in May 2015. Director of Medical and Health Services for the Medical, Health, and Family Welfare Department in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.

She commenced her tenure as Executive Director at Electrification Corporation Limited, located in New Delhi, in October 2015.

She was designated DM, Collector, and Vice Chairperson of the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) of Uttar Pradesh in 2017, in addition to holding an additional charge.

She assumed the roles of CEO of Noida and MD of Noida Metro Rail Corporation in 2019. Furthermore, in October 2022, she was bestowed with an additional responsibility at the Greater Noida Authority in Uttar Pradesh.

She was designated the Divisional Commissioner of Agra, Uttar Pradesh, on July 19, 2023.

  • The Indian government's "National Award for E-Governance 2010-11 for Health Project "Aarogyam" was presented in 2012.
  • United Nations, New York (USA), presented the "Aarogyam" health project with the UN Public Service Delivery Award for Public Administration in 2012.
  • Based on her life, the documentary "Katiyabaaz" debuted at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2012 and went on to win the gold medal for Best Film in the India Section at the 15th Mumbai Film Festival.
  • In 2018, the Ministry of Commerce granted a patent for the health sector initiative 'Aarogyam' at the National Intellectual Property Awards.
  • Ghaziabad Municipal Administration was designated the Swachh Bharat Fastest Moving City in 2018 by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India.
  • State Award for SBM was awarded to Ghaziabad in 2018 by the Uttar Pradesh Department of Nagar Vikas.
  • G-files Governance Award for Power Sector Contribution was awarded by the Nagar Vikas Department of Uttar Pradesh, in 2018.
  • Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) presented the Open Defecation Free (ODF) (Noida) Plus Plus Award for Municipal Administration in 2018.
  • The Ministry of Urban Affairs designated ODF (Greater Noida) for municipal administration in 2021.
  • 2021: First rank among SBM (Urban) cities in India (Noida) according to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs of the Government of India.
  • Noida, was designated a 5-Star Garbage Free City for SBM (Urban) by the Government of India's Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, in 2021.
