Tyrone Evans Clark (born January 21, 1986 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American actor, filmmaker,[1][2][3] video game designer, and singer-songwriter.[4][5] He has written the young adult historical fantasy novel Grapefruit: Season I - The Wrath of Love[2][6][7] and writing, directing, and starring in the film and television series Homeless Sam and Sally.[6][8] He was also in a E! reality TV show Dating #NoFilter[5][9][10] and BET's Running Out of Time.[2] As a video game designer, he has worked on Disney Infinity and numerous other titles.

Early life and education

Clark was born on January 21, 1986 in Cook County in Chicago, Illinois[11].

At the age of 8, Clark moved to Benton Harbor, Michigan after experiencing a house fire that claimed the life of his 2-year-old brother Carl Hall.[12] As a child, he was abused by family members and a neighbor.[13][14]

In high school, Clark was homeless for some time, staying at some of his friend's houses.[15] He eventually graduated from Benton Harbor High School[16][17] with honors and several scholarships, including the Horatio Alger Scholarship[18], the Gates Millennium Scholarship, Rosa L. Parks Scholarship, and the A.C.E. Award Scholarship.[19][16]

Clark graduated from the Art Institute of California in Los Angeles[20] (now defunct) with a Bachelor of Science in Game Art & Design in 2010.[16][17][3] He also went through a period of homelessness while in college, in which he slept under the steps of his school.[6][15] In 2006, on his way to work, Clark was targeted by a bunch of gang members and was brutally beaten because they believed he was gay.[1][13][21]

Career

After college, Clark worked as a 3D artist and game programmer, working on titles such as WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 and Disney Interactive's Disney Infinity. As a 3D artist, he also worked on CGI effects for the TV series Reverie and the film Wallenda.[22] Clark performed previously as a model for Bliss Body, Powered, Hustle Worldwide, and Macy's fashion show.[23][24]

He currently works as an XR app developer at Qualcomm.[25]

In 2010, Clark made an appearance in the television program U.S. Farm Report.[5][26]

In 2018, Clark started his acting career.[6] Clark has made appearances in television shows such as Women of Wrestling[16], E!'s Dating #NoFilter[5][27][28], and Magic for Humans,[2] as well as films such as Velvet Buzzsaw[6][23] and BET's Running Out of Time.[2]

In 2019, Clark released his first music singles, "Inside of Me!", "Video Game," and "Look Me in My Eyes."[24] In 2019, Clark also wrote, produced, directed, and acted in the TV series Homeless Sam & Sally.[6]

In 2020, Clark served as the writer, producer, director, and star of Homeless Sam & Sally - The Movie.[26][8][22] The film has won Best Director / nominated Best Short Film at the 2020 Couch Fest Films Awards.[11]

In 2020, Clark also directed and starred in a documentary about the COVID-19 pandemic titled The Corona Hour! Clark also published a novel, Grapefruit: Season I - The Wrath of Love, in 2020.[25][29] The book has obtained a few awards such as General Fiction and Young Adult - Honorable Mention at the 2021 Hollywood Book Festival.[30][31]

Clark also released the single and viral music video "Gotta Get Some Tissue!" in 2020.[24][32][28] The music video received an Official Selection at the 2021 Prague Independent Film Festival for the Animation category.[33]

In January 2022, he appeared in an episode of MTV's reality online dating show Catfish: The TV Show.[34]

Personal life

Clark has lived in Brooklyn, New York and later moved to Los Angeles.[35] Clark is an openly pansexual[36][31][37] man who is a supporter of the Black Lives Matter and LGBTQIA+ rights movements.[29][28]

According to the The Washington Informer, Clark protested for George Floyd and he believes that African-American lives are disregarded in the United States due to visually being seen as someone of Black descent.[38]
