Shockblast (known as Laserwave in Japan) is a Decepticon from the Unicron Trilogy continuity family of the Transformers franchise who bears a strong resemblance to the Transformers: Generation 1 continuity character of Shockwave, but otherwise is not known to be related to him.
In Transformers: Energon Shockblast is introduced as a Decepticon inmate of an Autobot prison; he is regarded as a dangerous figure by all parties, though his prior history is unknown. He eventually escapes Autobot custody in an effort to link up with Megatron's forces, and is pursued by the prison guards Wing Dagger and Padlock. They tracked him to the chamber of Primus where the group encountered other Autobots, and Shockblast quickly captured Padlock and used him as a shield. Making his way to the exit, he departed and released Padlock, only to demonstrate his cruelty by firing a fatal shot through the hapless Autobot as he made his escape. Unbeknownst to Shockblast, he had made a formidable enemy, as Wing Dagger would pursue him relentlessly in an effort to bring him to justice.
Shockblast soon joined Megatron's forces but proved an uneasy addition, as Megatron's loyal troops-particularly Tidal Wave-mistrusted him and resented his asserting authority over them. Their fears were well justified, as Shockblast endeavored to seize the power of Unicron for himself, only to be consumed by the planet eater's evil. His size increased, Shockblast went on an out of control rampage that even Optimus Supreme-the combined form of Optimus Prime and Omega Supreme-was hard-pressed to battle. Eventually Optimus managed to get through to the crazed Decepticon, only for him to be crushed by Unicron after the reactivated titan set his sights on the planet on which they battled.
The Decepticons were subsequently joined by Shockblast's almost identical brother, Six Shot, who later summoned a virtual clone of Shockblast to serve as his teammate in a combat simulation. This would mark Shockblast's final appearance, and his similarly traitorous brother eventually met a similar fate to Shockblast.
